Chapter 6

Awkward.

That's how one can describe their dating relationship. The class, and probably the whole school know already but talks about it in hushed voices. There's a lot of talk – but both of them agree that their opinion of each other is more important than the others.

They decided to make time for each other every morning – it was Leni's suggestion. Para di ka na nalalate, she told him. She told him he can have time for his friends and she can have time for her friends after school and they can rest for the remainder of the day. He agreed.

"Tell me if feeling mo, dinidiktahan kita," She told him one early morning in the backseat of her car, she lying on his stomach, him, caressing her hair as they wait for the first classes to start.

"I like it when you impose on me," He said and she giggled.

"Baka kasi isipin mo, masyado naman controlling, eh hindi pa nga tayo,"

"To be honest with you, I'm having a hard time waking up early but kung para makita kita e, titiisin ko," He kissed her forehead tenderly. Leni closed her eyes and smiled.

"Mama would like to meet you," he whispered.

She opened her eyes and straightened up.

"She knows?"

"That I'm dating you? Yes."

"Is she nice?"

"Sa lahat, except sa akin." He chuckled.

She giggled. She went on top of him and sat on his stomach. She bent down to kiss him. He kissed back and their mouths and tongues fight for dominance for a while. When they break apart, she kisses him on his forehead. "Who can not be nice to you, darling," she whispered.

"Leni, I feel that whenever I go serious, you engage me in this," He chuckled. "Seryoso ako ha."

She sat up and pouted her lips. "I'm not trying to distract you, sir, if that's what you think." She crossed her arms. "Of course I know you're serious. I just don't know what to say so I just show you how I feel," She looked down.

He massaged her waist deeply as he laughed. "Uy, wag ka na magtampo. Naisip ko lang na baka isipin mo I'm not serious because as you said, you know me."

It's her turn to laugh. She looked at him. "You're right, I know you. Maybe, I'm just enjoying the moment I am with you but don't get me wrong, I take you seriously. I like you, remember? We can agree naman siguro explicitly we both like each other right?"

"You're right, babe." He carried her weight on his lap as he straightened up and kissed her again. "You're coming home with me later to meet Mama?" He whispered in her ear as he ghosted her.

"Mmm, yes. I'll see your Mama."

--

"Ma, magandang hapon. Si Leni nga pala," He kissed her hand and presented Leni to her mother.

"Magandang hapon po, Nanay," She say kind of awkwardly as she reached for the mother's hand and put it on her forehead.

Nanay Soleng laughed at the scene. She's probably the happiest of the three of them. She almost gave up of the thought of meeting someone special in Rody's life but now here they are.

"Leni, nagagalak akong makilala ka, upo ka, anak." She kissed her cheek and sat down beside her.

Rody excused himself so that the ladies can talk. He prepared some merienda for them to eat. After a while he noticed that the two were getting along well and he smiled to himself. Leni's still not his girlfriend but it is best that her mother knows who he is getting himself into.
