     BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEE-

It's six in the morning. Why do people in this state go to school at 7:30am?!? I force myself out of my bed and somehow make it to my bathroom. I let out a huge yawn and immediately taste my morning breath. Yuck. I ran my hand against the wall, searching for the light switch. This place is going to take some getting used to. Once I finally got the light on, my eyes went wide.

"I HAVE A JACUZZI TUB!" I squealed as I jumped around in excitement, not bothering to be quiet because there's no way my mom can hear me. I connected my phone to the surround sound system and immediately started swaying to the beat of my favorite song.

"You are my church. You are my place of worship...." God, I love Kali Uchis.

After taking a quick shower, I started on my hair. I saturated each section of thick, 3c hair with leave-in conditioner and some curl defining gel. After checking the time, I decided that diffusing wasn't the best idea. Air drying it is.

Thank god I had picked out my 'first day' outfit before we got to the house. I searched through all of my boxes and finally found exactly what I was looking for. I threw on my favorite distressed, light-wash jeans, a white tee, and my all white huaraches. Feeling a bit snazzy, I decided to accessorize. I slid my Nike hat over my curls and put on some hooped earrings and a watch.

I was pleased with my ensemble today. Fashion isn't something Jeneva and I regularly agreed on, but we both looked good in our own ways. My excitement quickly faded at the thought of how far away I was from my best friend.

I grabbed my phone and decided to send her a text. "First day. Wish me luck!"

"Girl, it's 10am! You're so lucky school starts so late over there," she responded almost immediately.

"Time zones, hun. It's 7," I laughed before hitting send. My poor friend.

Shoot it's 7. I'm running late. I grabbed my school bag and ran down the stairs. My mom was sitting in the kitchen, sipping her coffee.

"Buenos dias, mama," I kissed her on the cheek as I grabbed a banana from the bowl. "You ready to go?" I said, taking a bite.

"Ready as I'll ever be." I heard the uneasiness in her voice. I almost forgot it was her first day, too.

"You're going to do great. Don't be nervous," I smiled.

Her face Immediately lit up. "You're absolutely right. They hired me for a reason! Hell, they even moved me across the country. Soy la matatan!"

"Hell yeah!" I cheered. "Venga, we're going to be late."

     "Ya voy!"
