Chapter 2 - Farewells And Hellos

"Bye dad." I mumble into his shirt covered chest.

He grips me tighter into the hug. "Farewell my sweet daughter."

I back up out of the hug an laugh at him. "Really dad?" I question him, amused. He gently pats my head as if I was a pet. I swat his hand away and glare furiously at him. My glare instantly falls when I realized this annoying creature is going to be leaving me now. "Bye daddy." I whisper sadly.

He smiles sadly at me. "Bye baby." he says gently. Tears slowly starts to fall down my cheeks. He chuckles at me and wipes my tears away. "Don't cry." he tells me gently. "I will visit as much as possible." he tries to assure me.

I decided to humor him. I nod. "Ok dad." I say with a sniffle. "I understand. See you next time." I say in an understanding way.

He engulfs me in another hug and I cherish it. This will be the last hug I will get from my father in a long time. That makes me feel more depressed than a normal eighteen year old girl should. It didn't matter though. My father is one of the best things in my life. Well, he is the best. He knows this, too. That's why he encourages me to open my heart to people. I feel like it isn't necessary though. If you have what you need in your life, there isn't a reason to bring more in it. Right? Well, that's my logic. I opened my heart open one time and it backfired on me big time. It wasn't a boyfriend. It was a friend. A girl and she was my best friend. She betrayed me big time. I will get into that another time though. She isn't worth my time.

"Hey, Stella." My father called to me, effectively snapping me out of my previous thoughts.

I cleared my throat. "Yeah dad?"

He backs out of our hug and holds me at arms length so he can make sure I know he's serious, I guess. "Your going to be fine without me." he says seriously. "Just remember, try again. Open your heart. It's going to be worth it."

I scoff and cross my arms. "Yeah right." I mutter. I see my father roll his eyes at my stubbornness, another thing I supposedly got from my superficial mother.

"I'm serious, baby." he says gently. "Make sure you at least consider it and think it over." he says and and flicks my chin with his pointer finger.

I smack him on the arm. "I hate when you do that!" I exclaim. It makes my head fly back and it's uncomfortable and gives me a headache.

He immediately bursts into a fit of laughter. "I'm s- I'm s- I'm sorry. That- that is hilarious." he says between laughs. I roll my eyes at him.

When he calms down, I hug him quickly. "Bye dad. I love you." I say one last time and open the door for him.

He chuckles one last time. "Bye baby. I love you too." he say and begins to walk out.

"Wait!" I call for him. He swivels around and flashes me a million dollar smile. "Be safe in that taxi. Don't annoy the driver. Also, call me as soon as you get home. I don't care what time it is or how tired you are, you call me!" I half tell him, half warn him with a finger wagging in his direction.

He chuckles and nods then goes on his merry way. I close my door and sit down on the living room couch with a sigh.

What to do?

Today, after we were done test driving, we ordered take out then went back to my apartment. The test drive was quite awkward, to be honest. I will be buying the vehicle next week.

Anyways, I decided that I am going to make dinner, eat, shower, brush my teeth, and go to bed. So, that's exactly what I did.
