"Welcome, Earthlings, to the Death Arena! It's shaping up to be quite the Tournament, even though most of you do not wish to be competing."
George closed his eyes. His heart raced wildly, beating painfully against his ribs, and he struggled to breathe. Annie was dead already, and so were James and Gary. James had made the mistake of thinking that since he had won his match, he got to live.
No one walked out of the Arena alive. These monsters made sure of that.
The winners moved on to the next match, where it was guaranteed that they would lose. Demons made of shadows had torn apart James. His screams still echoed in George's ears.
"Before we begin our next match, a quick word from one of our sponsors! Hela's Blades-knives and swords you can trust!"
George opened his eyes. The Arena was packed, and a scared man stood across from him. Looking down, George noted the letters 'HB' engraved into the blade of the knife he held.
"Well, at least I'm getting quality," he muttered under his breath. Looking up, he shouted to his opponent.
"You're going to have to get closer! It's a short knife!"
