"Come on Ella, the sky's awake, so I'm awake!" Kate squeals, pulling open the curtains of their shared hotel room. "Get up, sleepyhead! We have an entire day of fun ahead of us and I'm not wasting a second of it."
Elanora laughs, throwing her arm over her eyes to shield her from the blinding light.
"Up, up!" Kate cries. She swats Elanora's arm away and gently pats her face. "Shower time, then breakfast, then..." she stops for a dramatic pause, dragging on the 'n', "a whole day of fun!"
"Oh leave me alone, you spoon." Elanora giggles, slowly getting out of bed.
Kate spins on her heel and turns to the bathroom. "I'm gonna get my makeup done then I'll let you take a shower." Elenora nods and grabs her phone from the bed stand.
She had missed a few calls from her mom - presumably, she was just calling to make sure they had gotten to the hotel safely - and a text from her boyfriend.
She opens her phone and reads the message; Hey Ella, call me.
Her heart sinks. An ominous text was a very rare occasion from Ryan, her boyfriend. He was usually straight to the point.
She looks at the bathroom door. It was still closed. She calls Ryan.
He picks up almost instantly with a morose, "Hey."
"Hey babe, what's going on?" Elenora asks, worry clouding her voice. Ryan sighs from the other end. "Is everything all right?"
There is a small pause before he speaks, "I'm sorry Elenora..."
She bits back her lip. He didn't have to finish the sentence. She already knew what he was going to say.
Things had already been rough between them and after their last argument, it had basically been a waiting game before one of them called it off.
She swallows the lump in her throat. "I know." Letting out a shaky breath, she whispers, "Goodbye Ryan." and hangs up the phone.
She throws it across the room where it lands on the floor next to the window.
Outside, people were already heading into the parks and starting their days. Elenora smiles sadly, thinking about all the excited children who were going to Disney for their first time.
She flops against the bed and beings to recall her first time at Disney.
She was only six and had been so excited. Her parents were taking her for her birthday so she was able to buy almost anything she wanted from the gift shops. She got almost everything having to do with Peter Pan.
Sharing the last name with a widely known Disney character caused her to adore the movie. She had seen Peter Pan so many times, she could recite the entire script.
When she got to meet Peter, she was thrilled. He was the only character she asked to sign her signature book.
After she got home, she asked her parents if she could paint her room light green to match Peters clothes. Her parents had taken it one step further and even painted a shadow onto the wall.
"Ella? Shower's open." Kate says, stepping out of the bathroom. Her make up was natural but still eye-catching. She had her light pink hair up in a ponytail, exposing the shaved sides.
Her outfit resembled one of those modern princess edits you would find on Pinterest - Ariel, no doubt.
A purple crop top and loose green skirt with sequins to resemble scales. She wore a necklace with a seashell and pearls that hung low and sandals that really completed the beachy look.
