My name is John Hanson I am 32 years old. I have worked for the LAFD for about 6 years. I work at Station 10 in Los Angeles, California, USA. I drive engine 10. After about 40 minutes into one of my shifts and the tone drops. "ENGINE 10, ENGINE 312. RESPOND: CAR FIRE AT 4174 FRAKLIN DRIVE" So I get my crew and we run into the garage with the crew of Engine 312 and I get Engine 10 started and get the lights running. I open the garage door and pull out with the siren on. *15 minutes later*. "Dispatch, this is Engine 10 show us on scene at 4174 Franklin Drive" *Dispatch: 10-4*. I grabbed the main attack line off of Engine 10 and have the operator turn on the water and I start spraying water from the hose onto the burning car. After 25 minutes the car isnt on fire but the house unfortunetly is on fire. So I say to dispatch "Engine 10 to control" "Control: Go ahead" "I need Truck 14 and station 51 to respond to a House fire. "Control: Copy Truck 14 and Station 51 are responding" Right after Truck 14 and the crews of station 51 arrived My crew and I had windows of the house smashed out for ventilation. We had two lines going from the hydrant to each engine and from the engines to the fire. I had two lined in front one inside the front door and one outside. Then I had the same thing going but in the backyard of the burning house. I called to dispatch "Dispatch, get Brush 113 out here for brush fire control". Dispatch replied "10-4, Brush 113 and Brush engine 012 responding code three" Both of the brush trucks arrived and the crews got to work on putting out the fire. I got my air tank on with mask and went into the house and called out "LAFD is anyone in here? Can anyone hear me?" I heard a dog barking and whining so I ran into the bedroom and pulled the dog from under the bed and picked it up and ran it outside to the waiting family. Right as I brought the dog out the ladder from Truck 14 was already up and had two lines going to it and both water cannons putting water onto the fire. After 3 intense hours of fighting a house fire we packed up. I got into Engine 10 and started the drive back to station 10. We arrived back at quarters at about 11:55 p.m. that evening. We were finally able to rest.
