5 Alarm: An LAFD story

Part 4

One week after the 5-Alarm fire at LAX Terminal 3 the members of Station 10 and I were hanging up balloons and streamers. The reason wasnt for a birthday party but for our open house. We had Tower Ladder 10 in front of the station with the Tower Ladder extended fully. We had Engine 10 out on the Driveway with the doors and compartments opened. We have hoses hooked up so people can experience what it id like to hold a fire hose. Rescue 10 has the back doors open for little kids. The LAPD will be helping us out with security for the event. Meanwhile as I help get the station ready a call comes in "ENGINE 312, TRUCK 14, AND RESCUE 66, RESPOND TO A COMMERCIAL FIRE AT THE LOS ANGELES PORT" So the crews of those trucks all suited up in fron tof the guests and went out on the call. So basically thr first guests at the open house event got to see LAFD respond from quarters. We also have plenty of Food, Drinks, Games, Prizes and overall fun here at LAFD Station 10. There will also be a memorial service for the 6 Firefighters the LAFD lost last week at LAX. The Los Angeles County Fire Marshall did rule it as Terrorism with the help from the FBI. We heard the driver of the car did go into hiding from the cops. So there is a massive manhunt underway for the suspect. After we had our first guests show up the Captain of the station started giving tours to groups of four people at a time. I was selected to give a group a tour. We started with the garage which had the trucks and gear racks. Then we movwd.to the station control room and then to the lounge rooms which was were we had our TV and beds in those rooms. We also moved to the kitchen and dining room and finally went to the briefing room and ended the tour in the garage where we initially started.
