It was 9:14 at night when the tone went off "ENGINE 10 RESCUE 80 AND TOWER LADDER 10: RESPOND TO A MULTIPLE VEHICLE ACCIDENT" I grabbed my gear and got into thw truck and left for the scene. At the time we arrived on scene it was pouring down rain. We got out of the engine as the ambulance was arriving. Heavy rescue 2 was on scene the victims were already out of the cars LAPD had the streets closed. I ran over to another firefighter and asked "How long ago did this happen" Right bwfore he replied we heard a large explosion and looked towards the port. All we saw was smoke and flames shoot into the air. Dispatch told us "ALL LAFD UNITS RESPOND, SHIP EXPLOSIONS AT THE LOS ANGELES PORT. US COAST GUARD ON SCENE. WITH LAFD FIREBOAT 1 AND 2" My crew and I got into Engine 10 and responeed. We arrived on scene and Jack told me "Sir I will man the deck gun" Tower Ladder 10 pulled up and immediately got to work. We started fire suppression operations at 11:13 pm and continued throught the night. Both fire boats have been on scene since the first explosion which was the one we seen from the accident scene. I went onto the burnong ship and I got inside and then a steel beam crushed me and pinned me down. Running out of oxygen I said "Dispatch is LAFD badge 1043 man down". The captain said "Hanson you fucking die in there I will bring you back and kill you again". My tank was empty and the alarm was beeping and on my final breath I said "Sir tell my family i loved them".
