Ace laying on the ground, water drenching her hair and clothes, Marissa and the others were taking photos of her and laughing. She started to cry until a voice came from the sidelines, "Hey, get away from her." A man's voice said. Ace looked up, a man with white hair and a scowl on his face. He looked very unpleasant and like he wanted to murder someone. "What are you going to do." Marissa said. He walked up to her and looked her right in the eye. "Get the hell away before I bloody your ugly face more then it already is you half chromosome twit." He said. Marissa looked shocked that he had just said that, and her other friends looked like he had just said he shoot them. They slowly backed off and ran off. Ace looked at him with one of her eyes swollen and her other eye a mess. "Damn, they got you good." He said. He picked her up and she tried to fight him without success and passed out in his arms. He carried her off.
...
(Ace's perspective)
I was somewhere unfamiliar, there were noises. Not next to me, more like some where in the distance but in the same room. My eyes fluttered open and I slowly sat up, and I could hear more clearly. Things like, "Take 1 damage" and "Tap and hold priority." What ever they were talking about it didn't seem very... well, normal. I was in different clothes then my school uniform and suddenly felt very uncomfortable. I looked around and saw a room with tables and chairs lining down, posters and banners, a display case with cards in them, and a rather comfortable living room looking area. The floor was made of carpet and the rooms seemed to be regular old plaster that was painted a grey. All the chairs were all cushioned rolling chairs, and the tables were wooden, that had a shine to it. The display case was cleaned and had no fingerprints it seemed. In the living room like area was a couch, that I was sitting on and was very comfortable, a recliner, a TV, and finally a basket with a ton of blankets folded neat and nice into them. A man with silver hair that was short cut, an went a little past his ears. He seemed surprised I was awake, but he smiled at me fondly like how a lover might look at his lover. He walked over to me and sat down, "Hello, how are you feeling." He said. His voice was soft and friendly, and his attitude to me was just very welcoming. I felt like I had just sat down with a friend and is about to talk about how bad my day had been. "Ummm... Okay I guess." I said. I looked at him right in his silver eyes. He touched my eye, and I flinched away. "Don't worry, I'm not going to hurt you." He said. That somehow made it a lot better. His hand touched my right eye, and I felt a small sting of pain. "Yeah, your eye still isn't fixed up yet. You got beat up pretty bad back near the river, they pushed you in and kicked you pretty bad as well." He explained. I remembered that part. It was painful, very painful. "If it wasn't for Leo you would have been a lot worse, most likely. Sorry, this must come as a shock to you. My name is Daiki. I'm the owner of this store." Daiki explained. "Leo", I thought, "Is that the guy saved me." Daiki looked at me and smiled. "Sorry if the change of clothes scared you, we had one of the women in the building change you in the bathroom." He said pointing to a door near the back. To my surprise, they also had a fridge and a microwave set up, with snacks and drinks stocked up in boxes and on display. "Where am I exactly." I said. He looked at me like it was obvious and then had a look that said maybe I didn't know where I was really. "Well, your in my shop. Were a nexus point of Magic: The Gathering." He said. I must have had a very noticeable look of confusion. "You really don't know what Magic is huh. Well I can't exactly explain it in advance to someone who does't want to learn. But, Magic: The Gathering is a trading card game. Very popular now a days, or at least I thought so." He said with a small giggle. "Why don't you come and watch." He said. I nodded and started to get up, I could see pretty well. I could feel my eye pretty heavy though, the swelling had gone down apparently, but it didn't feel like it. I followed him to the main area where people looked like they were focused and calling out terms that I didn't understand at all. A few people noticed me and asked me how I was doing. I answered them with a good and they went to what they were doing with a smile. They had cards in there hands, some had cards that were one color, others were golden, others had 2 colors. From what I could see they were Red, Green, Blue, Black, and White. They all had a picture of something on them, some had weird or down right creepy creatures, others had normal looking geological features like a mountain or an island. All of the people had mats on the table and had cards on the mats, all arranged in a different order. Whole decks sat off to the side, 20 sided dice, pieces of paper, and all sorts of stuff that made no sense to me. "I can see your overwhelmed, but this is pretty simple stuff." A familiar voice said. I turned to my right and saw a man with white hair and golden eyes sitting in a chair staring at me. The man who saved me from Marissa and her goons, Leo. "You'll only understand this kinda of stuff if you join our world." He said. His eyes were so beautiful and yet so repealing. Like he would call you in and then try to strike, but slow enough you would be able to escape, barley. "Leo, that's her choice." Daiki said. "I know," He said getting up, "And she'll make the right one." He said turning around and sitting in the seat correctly. He grabbed the deck of cards in front of his and split it in half and started to mesh them together. I had seen my brother put enough baseball cards into sleeves to know they were all sleeved with crimson red one sided sleeves. He did it with such ease I was actually entranced. I started to walk forward, and took a seat in front of him. Daiki looked at me like I was crazy, "Ummm, Ace. Are you sure you want to do that?" He asked me. I realized what I had done and got up. "You've already challenged me, besides, we called your parents. They won't be getting here for a bit, might as well learn to play and have some fun." Leo said shuffling his deck still. His eyes were closed and he still was able to shuffle with ease. "Leo, she doesn't even know what Magic is, and your expecting her to go against a ex world champion." Daiki said. Others had started to gather around. The words "Ex world champion", hit me in an unexpected way. I suddenly was a lot less sure I had made the right choice to follow Daiki, but at the same time, I was so interested and want to go further into the rabbit hole. Was this how Alice felt in "Alice in Wonderland" when she found the hole. Was this his trap, how he got people to follow him and then swallow him whole. He opened his eyes and stared me down with his golden eyes. He slammed his deck into the table, and it made me flinch. I looked at him and felt his eyes like they were digging a hole right through my face. I was failing under the pressure. I felt a hand on my shoulder, and looked up, it was Daiki. His hand was infirm and gentle, like a kids or women's hand. "I'll help her out." He said. I had a sigh of relief. I hadn't know Daiki for long, yet I was so fond of him for helping me that it seemed like I had known him for my whole life.
