Blinded Love (A RaphShimmer Love Story)

The Date

A week later, Raph decided to surprise Sunset. He left her a note at her apartment, telling her to meet him at the river park at 8:00 p.m. Sunset read the note, wondering what Raph had in mind. She decided to dress casually, and was at the river park at 7:58 p.m. It was a dark but beautiful night in New York, and the moon was full. "I hope Raph doesn't mind me being early," thought Sunset as she walked around, "where is he?"

"You're getting warmer," Raphael telepathically said to her. Sunset smiled, and walked to where she knew where Raph was. She then saw him near a pack of trees, and behind them a river. There was a blanket with a large box of pizza, two bottles of Sunset's favorite drink, and brownies resting on top of the blanket. Sunset gasped in astonishment. "Surprise," said Raph as he smiled at Sunset. "Raphael, did you do all this for me?" asked Sunset. "Yeah, I know it's not much, but..." admitted Raph. "Are you kidding? I love it!" said Sunset. Raph smiled and said, "Well... Great! Care to join me?" Sunset giggled and said, "I would be happy to join you." They sat down, and enjoyed the large pizza, which was just a plain cheese pizza. Raph knew that Sunset didn't like eating meat from hooved animals, her being a former unicorn and all, and he could respect that. "How's the investigation going?" Raph asked casually, trying to make conversation with Sunset. "Kind of going cold," admitted Sunset as she took a bite from her pizza, "I haven't heard from April in a week. It's getting me concerned."

"It's probably nothing serious," assured Raph, "if I know April, I know she's probably looking for another important story." Sunset shrugged and said, "You're probably right. Maybe I worry too much. It's often made situations worse." Raph chuckled and said, "Normally I was the one worrying my brothers with my attitude to charge first." Sunset giggled, smiling at Raph. "If I had been a pony like you, do you think I'd have made a good royal guard?" asked Raph. "I think you would," replied Sunset. By then, they'd finished the entire pizza. "Hey, uh Sunset?" asked Raph. "Yeah Raph?" Sunset asked back. "You, uh, want to wade in the water with me?" offered Raph. Sunset laughed and asked, "Is it because you're semi-aquatic?" Raph blushed a little. "I don't mind wading with you. It seems like a nice night for a dip," said Sunset as she then took off her black boots. Raphael then sat near the river, wading in it. Sunset joined, dipping her bare feet in the water. The water wasn't too cold, and relaxing for the two. Sunset rested her hand on the grass. Raph hesitated, but then laid his hand on her hand. Sunset smiled at him. "You are the most beautiful person I've ever known," complimented Raphael. Sunset blushed and said, "And you are just as handsome."

"Sunset, there's a lot I want to tell you," said Raphael. "Well I'm right here, what is it?" asked Sunset. "We've grown a lot closer these last few weeks," said Raphael, "and that's counting our psychic connection... Sunset, when I'm with you, I feel happier. You never judge me for being a mutant, or the fact that I'm blind. When I'm with you, I feel complete... The truth is, Sunset I love you. I love everything about you." He could hear Sunset's heart racing from excitement. "Raphael, I feel the same way about you," admitted an emotionally overwhelmed Sunset, "to me, you are the bravest person I've ever met. If I never knew you, I'd never be as happy as I am. You are my strength. You make me feel unashamed of my scars. I love you just as much Raphael... Can you please take off your mask? I want to see your eyes..." Raphael took off his red mask, and she looked at his eyes, stroking his cheeks. "Sunset Shimmer, will you be my girlfriend?" asked Raphael. Sunset squealed in excitement, "Yes!!! Yes, I will be your girlfriend!" She then kissed him on the lips. Raph then embraced the kiss, hugging her, stroking her fiery hair. "Best day ever," thought Raphael. "It sure is..." Sunset telepathically replied to him.

Suddenly, Garrett was running around New York, looking for Sunset. Finding her in this city was a wild goose chase, especially since he was unfamiliar with New York. He then saw Sunset at the park, wading in the water.

 "Sunset!" Garrett called out, running to her. Raph heard the unfamiliar voice and said, "Someone's coming, I don't know who, but..." Garrett then met the two, and caught his breath. "Garrett?" Sunset asked, getting out of the water, looking at her brother in his human form. "Hey sis," said the out of breath Garrett. "What's going on?" Raphael asked, confused. He got out of the water. "Raphael, this is my younger brother Garrett," introduced Sunset, "Garrett, this is my boyfriend Raphael." 

 "The Raphael you were writing to Twilight about?" asked Garrett. "Yes him," said Sunset. Garrett shook Raph's hand. "Nice to meet you," said Garrett, "and congrats." Raph smirked and said, "Nice to meet you too Garrett. I must say, this is a real surprise."

 "I have to agree, nice as it is to see you, why are you here?" asked Sunset. "Princess Twilight sent me," explained Garrett, "I'll explain everything, but you've gotta come with me. In fact, I gotta explain all this to Raphael and his brothers."
