I don't remember much.

I was only five years old when the incident happened. While I was playing with my dolls, I heard screams and shouts and arguments and yells from the other room. Me being a five year old, i was curious to see what the situation was about.

I grabbed Annie, my doll, and tip toed to the room where I was hearing the noises. I couldn't really decipher what they were saying, but I knew they were arguing in a really bad way.

Opening the door to a creak, I gasped in horror of what I saw. My dad was pointing a gun at my mom and she looked so scared. She had tears streaming down her face and I heard her mumbling, "please, James, please don't do this. We have a child. We can't do this to her."

My mom was indian, while my dad was white, so I guess I could be indian-American. They had a love marriage, and they were so happy together. When my dads work started to get too stressful for him, he decided to drink his problems away. He got too dangerous for my mom to the point where she had scars and bruises in some places. He was abusive to her, and I didn't like it a single bit.

I couldn't really make out what he said, but whatever he said made my mom gasp in shock. Then her face turned to rage and she spat out, "I hope you go to hell, James."

The next series of events happened fast, but painfully. Before my five year old eyes could evaluate what was really going on, I heard a bang vibrate from the room. I screamed with all my might and opened the door.

My mom was lying on the floor, blooding pooling from her chest. Her eyes were shot opened, a tear rolling from her eyes, climbing down her face. She looked so beautiful, so innocent.

And he killed her.

I looked at him with rage. He had a shocked look on his face, like he didn't mean to do that. Then he looked down at me and all the colors from his face flushed out. "What are you doing here, sweetie?" His voice quavered as he quietly put the gun behind his back.

"You killed mommy," I huffed out. I smacked him with my doll multiple times. "You killed mommy! You killed mommy!"

Not knowing what to say next, he grabbed me in his arms. I squirmed around, bit his fingers, yelled into his face, but his strong meaty hands held me in the most uncomfortable way. He grabbed his phone and dialed in a number.

"Hello?" He said. After a while he answered back, "yes, I would like to send a child to the orphanage." Pause. "Yes, and good night to you too."

I understood what he said. He was going to send me off to this place. I wasn't that mad anyways; I wanted to live without this man, this murderer.

Moments later, a knock came on the door. He opened the door with me in his arms, me still squirming around.

A scrawny young man stood at the door, holding a clipboard and a briefcase. "Is this the child you would like for us to take?"

"You killed mommy!" I blurted out, punching him on the chest repeatedly. Dad looked at me with anger and looked back to the man.

"Sorry, shes five. She has no idea what she's saying. And yes, this is the child."

The man looked scared as he looked at me punching my dad. "Alrighty." He looked back to my dad and gave him the clipboard. "Just make sure to sign here and here and now I would just take her."

He grabbed me from my dads arms and I felt relief. My dad looked at me with pleading eyes, as if he had some sort of powers that said "please don't tell him." I already did, but he didn't listen apparently.

I climbed into the truck which probably took me to the place. The truck rolled off into the distance as my dad did as well.

There is no way I'm going to let him get away with his actions, or my name isn't Alisha Dave.
