Mike's pov:

It was about a week since my detention, El and I hung out a lot. El just left to go home, she had a little bit of a stuffy nose.

Monday:

I woke up and laid in my bed until I my mom come barging in. I took a quick shower and went downstairs to grab some breakfast.

Holly was sitting at the table eating some Eggos.

"You know Holly. Eggos waffles are El's favorite food." I told her sitting down next to her.

"Really? They're my favorite too." She looked at me with amazement.

"I was the one who started her Eggo obsession. About 5 years ago when El and I met, I gave her her first waffle, and she loved it." I told her blushing a little at the memory.

"Wow, you must really love her if your going to give up your Eggos." Holly said making me laugh a little.

"I really do love her, okay, I got to go I'll see you tonight after school." I said getting up and kissing her head.

"When you guys get married can I be the flower girl?" Holly asked.

"Whatever you want." I told her and went into the basement to grab my backpack.

When I got into the basement the phone started ringing and Holly answered it.

"Mikeeeeeeeee!" Holly yelled. "It's for youuu, it's your girlllfrienddd."

I ran upstairs as fast as I could.

"What's up El?" I asked.

"I'm not going to school today, I'm pretty sick." She said sniffling over the phone.

"If you can't be at school then all come to you." I told her.

"Mike, you can't miss school, it's important."

"Well you're way more important. I'll see you in ten." I told her and before she could protest, I hung up on her, and walked over to the door.

"Go save your girlfriend from the virus inside her." Holly said waving at me.

"Do you ever shut up?" I asked laughing.

"Nope." She replied and I closed the door laughing.

El's pov:

I woke up this morning with a pounding headache, runny nose, and the chills. I tried to get up to get some water, but my legs just wouldn't move.

"Hopper!" I yelled at him.

"Ya El?" He asked popping his head in my doorway.

"I don't feel well, and I have a really bad headache. Can I stay home today?" I asked.

"Sure you can kiddo. Do you want me to stay home with you?" He said walking over and seeing the state that I'm in.

"No, I don't want you to miss work, I'll be fine." I told him, sniffling.

"Okay, but if you need anything just call me, I have to go to work, but I'll see you tonight." He told me walking towards the door.

"Okay. Bye Dad." I said to him, snuggling further into the blanket.

"Bye El." He left the room, I could hear him grab his keys.

"Wait, can you get me a glass of water?" I asked, I could hear him put his keys back onto the counter, grab a glass and fill it up.

"Here ya go, bye kiddo." He said and left.

After I was done my water I realized that I needed to call Mike so he doesn't worry. I got up and slowly made my way to the kitchen, I dialed his number that I know off by heart and waited for someone to pick up.
