  ❧ Hugo continued to hold his breath. ☙  

Wow, he sure can hold his breath for a long time! Why don't he go try out for the choir?

"Hello? Someone must be inside, right? You can come out, I won't bite!"

Slowly, and hesitantly, Hugo unlocked the stall door and opened it.

On the other side, was a boy around the same height as him, with soft, golden blonde curls and big, blue eyes.

It must be the worry and anxiety Hugo was showing through his eyes, since the boy gave a small, soft smile and said to him, "Don't be afraid, it's just that someone heard sniffing coming from here, that's all."

Hugo couldn't bring himself to start. He didn't even know where to begin.

And the other boy must've seem through this.

"It's okay if you don't want to talk about it, and I won't force you. But do you want to go out and take a walk, have some fresh air?"

He put a hand on Hugo's arm, and Hugo didn't complain, instead silently allowed himself to be pulled out the washroom.

"Ms. Sung, I'm taking him for a walk outside!" the boy yelled into a room as they walked by it, and took a pass from the hook next to the door.

"Be back before dismissal!" A female voice yelled back.

The boy giggled and opened the door for Hugo as they walked out.

As soon as the fresh air hit his face, Hugo felt himself calm down a lot.

"Feeling better, right?" the boy asked. Then, he suddenly came to a stop.

  "I just remembered!" he exclaimed, eyes wide.  

"Oof!" Hugo nearly bumped into him.

"I forgot to introduce myself! I'm Austin, but you can call me Nemo! Because of my eyes, see?" He pointed to them, smiling brightly.

Hugo nodded, and a smirk crept to his lips.

"You know...my mom always considered naming me Bruce."

Nemo's eyes widened even more, if that was even possible for someone to have such huge eyes.

"Oh gosh!"

And the boys spent the remainder of the school hours, just running around and playing outside in the schoolyard.

    ❧ For the first time, Hugo felt free, of all his worries. ☙
