After what must've been hours of unconsciousness, you finally came to. The world around you was dark, just past dusk by the looks of it. The titans around you were meandering sluggishly through the forest, all slowing down with the lack of sunlight. What surprised you most was their disinterest in you. Not a single titan gave you the slightest glance, even though you were an easy target. Though they seemed disinterested, you knew better than to test your luck. You weren't like Eren-you couldn't just regenerate whole body parts or heal yourself. Outside of your wings, anatomy-wise, you were the same as everyone else, weaknesses included.
After it seemed the last of the titans went dormant for the night, you decided to try to move. Unfortunately for you, your injuries were too severe to allow you to just keep moving as you had before. Your ankle was well past swollen now, and you knew if you removed your boot there was no way you would get it back on. It was the only thing keeping the swelling to a minimum at the moment. Regardless of what you knew, you tried unsuccessfully to move. The minute you put weight on your bad foot, you immediately regretted it. You painfully limped to the next tree before falling, your wings protesting along with the rest of your body. There wasn't much hope for you in this state.
It was almost day four now, and your energy was waning. You'd had no food or water for days, and your physical state was quickly reaching a critical point. The shards in your wings were if not already, soon to get infected, and you could feel yourself getting sick. Your hope of ever being rescued dwindled further and further, slipping through your fingers like water. You'd never be able to tell Hanji about how the titans were all ignoring you, or Mike that his hair was a mess (like it always was). Most importantly, you'd never be able to say goodbye to Levi. The idea of him ever finding your corpse was mortifying. He'd already lost so much in his life, and to add yourself to the list would be a major disservice to him. After all you'd been through together, the underground days, the times in training in the regiment, all the way through Annie and even your abduction.
After all the tears you'd let fall, you thought you'd have none left. That is until a fresh set of them made their way to your bruised and damaged face. Here you were, lying on the forest floor surrounded by abominations. You were on your own now, and it was no shock to you that your following thoughts were 'I'm going to die here.' After that moment, you felt shut down. There were no soldiers coming to save you now. Those that'd survived the titan attack were safely back at HQ recovering and preparing to train again. Most of them probably thought you were dead. Ironic, really, that one of humanities' strongest died at the hands of its most cowardly. You could almost hear the mockery in the memories. 'And here lies (Y/N), humanity's most pathetic soldier'.
Once again you cried out, yelling all your emotions out into incomprehensible ashes. It was pointless, obviously, but you were inevitably due to die soon anyway. What did it matter if it was by exhaustion? Regardless of your thoughts, your expression did not last long. Your vocal cords were a mess now, and they'd hardly been working right from the first days of yelling. Your internal cyclone of agony came out as a mess of whimpering and odd noises no human being should've been able to make. You almost wished Levi would come out of nowhere and save you right then and there, but you stopped yourself. Making him come all the way out here would be dangerous, even for someone as skilled as he was. You let your head fall back, face to the sky above you as your back leaned against the base of the tree. The clouds which had been slowly rolling in began to let out their cold currents and light rain, and you found yourself shivering against it. You used your good wing to cover yourself, but it was as cold as you were, its only purpose was to act as a windbreaker and protection against the freezing rain.
Walls save me...
Levi's POV
The last time I saw her was during the fight with the armored titan. She tried to drive it away from us as we approached from behind, but it was too damn stubborn. After that, I'd let myself be distracted by Erwin's orders – the same ones he'd already filled me in on as we were leaving wall Rose. There was no denying my part in this after the fact. If I'd just kept my sights on her, we wouldn't have lost her. Regardless of what the reports read, I had an undeniable feeling that (Y/N) was still alive. Maybe it was because I hadn't seen her go down, maybe it was intuition...in either case, there was no way in hell I was leaving her out there if there was even a chance she could be alive.
