"Hey, Todoroki?"
His head turned to the side, a grimace coating his usually uninterested features. Acting as if he'd been pulled by a leash, tugged and chained down by (Y/n)'s depressing thoughts.
"Yeah?"
That word is all it took for (Y/n) to completely spill. The empty, philosophical words that poured out of her aching soul left Todoroki with so many questions, thousands left unanswered. He knew that with just one depricating thought, he'd been on thin ice.
It was as if they'd both been placed in a desert, hundreds to thousands of miles away from each other. The distance called their names, but such prayers were left unanswered. The wind wailed with struggling intensity, and both were left listening to the eerie white noise.
Todoroki sighed, bored with their conversation that they shared. It was fairly one-sided, (Y/n) would vent out her frustrations whilst Todoroki would calmly sit back, relaxing in the dimly lit atmosphere they'd both placed themselves into. Two beanbang chairs, both in leopard print. And a wild imagination.
"Have you ever thought of people as bugs?"
Todoroki's eyes widened, silently baffled by the words that had suddenly entranced his mind in an odd, sickening way.
"Goodness no, what ever do you mean?" Todoroki's confusion was obvious, the acumen tone showed how clueless he was to psychological meanings; and how he'd come to realize how judgemental he was.
"People are like bugs. Different species, different colors. Different body shapes, antennas that signal as far as the eye can see. Take for example; ants. Ants are colonists, they work hard for their lone colony, stealing small foods and using teamwork as a beacon. Quite nobel, but in retrospect you can see how each of them struggle. Independently, they cannot carry that singular piece of bread. The lone ranger they once thought they knew themselves to be became weak, after one small piece of bread. Until the others showed up, high and mighty. The atmosphere suddenly changes, like a Disney movie. Their savior is finally there to rush to their previously lonely aid, and all is well with the small world.
Until you're crushed."
Todoroki stared intently. To say he was never curious or interested was an understatement. (Y/n) had such a vivid imagination, normal things in the world always turned into something bigger, something abnormal. Almost as if the word "normal" lost its meaning.
"Until it's crushed, huh?"
"They scatter in defeat, searching for a new hope in life. But no matter what, thousands of colonies are created each time those two ants escape.
What do you think their worth is, Todoroki?"
Excogitate.
Todoroki had recently learned that word. For a person who'd thought out their plans or ideas thoroughly, was to excogitate.
He scoffed, glancing in the opposite direction. "You're blabbering nonsense. Quit it."
"Perhaps I am." (Y/n)'s dejected expression made Todoroki wince. Although he faced a tough facade, he couldn't help but feel pity for the girl. But he knew he couldn't answer her question, if she couldn't answer his.

When he tried to read in between the lines, all that came to him was symphonies.
And the lies that berated each conversation became a frugal truth.
