Eggman strode into Thrawn's office, art from the alter of the Master Emerald around him. He still didn't understand the Grand Admiral's love for art, but he didn't question him about it.
"You requested me?" He asked Thrawn.
"Yes," Thrawn responded, turning the projections, "I have news for you."
"Weird, typically we both would be notified, correct?"
"Because of your relative newness to the Navy, you were deemed... irrelevant. But there are some areas where even the irrelevant are useful."
The door behind Eggman closed and a hologram of Endor and the Death Star came up.
"The Emperor has set a trap for the Rebellion," Thrawn explained, "with highly trained troops on the ground and a fleet of stardestroyers, lead by the Executor, waits in ambush on the far side of Endor. Here is the list of fighter compliments. See if there is any way to improve this strategy."
Eggman studied the field of battle. He also studied the compliment of fighters. He made some very astute observations.
"Where are the TIE bombers?" He asked Thrawn.
"Stationed on the ground," he replied.
"Well, THAT is certainly a downside. If the enemy forces have capital ships, they won't go down fast."
Another fast observation.
"Is there anything protecting the generator from orbital bombardment?"
"No."
"Then if they launch a bombardment from orbit, then the battle is lost. But because this report also indicates that they are sending a strike team, there's a high chance that they'll place some form of beacon to hit the generator from orbit."
"Possible."
"And no interdictors? If they turn tail, there's no stopping them."
"How would you improve on this strategy?"
"Well, first of all, get the bombers in the air. Keep the cruisers busy to not bombard the generator. Then either box the fleet in, or get a few interdictors to keep the Rebels in place."
"Precisely."
Silence filled the air. They both knew that there was a chance that the Empire was going to wipe out the Rebellion, but with no bombers in the sky, no protection from orbital bombardment, and no way to keep the Rebels there, they had most of the cards to either win or run and live to fight another day.
"Have you cracked how to turn off the Chaos Emeralds?" Eggman asked.
"I translated everything many weeks ago." Thrawn responded, "However, it appears to be encrypted. Perhaps you know how to crack it?"
The art came back and though Eggman couldn't read half of it, he could read the rest.
"The first of the aurebesh symbols read 'Chaos is power... power enriched by the heart.'"
Thrawn read the aurebesh section he was talking about. He then read the same section, but instead of the aurebesh he read the sy bisti.
"The servers are the 7 chaos."
"The controller is the one--"
"That unifies the chaos."
They both looked at each other. They figured it out.
"Let's make the Chaos Emeralds useless." Eggman said.
"No," Thrawn responded when Eggman reached the door, "they won't be using them on Endor. They will wait until they are finally able to return to Mobius. Once that happens, then we will render the Emeralds useless and crush them."
Next part coming soon.
