Chapter Four: The Insync Duo

I couldn't really walk all that well since I just endured a couple of hours of torture. I ran through fields that seemed like they went on forever.

I finally reached a road and continued to walk until I found a convenience store. I walked inside.

“Can I use your phone?” I asked the cashier. He looked up and his eyes went wide at the sight of a bruised up and bloody woman.

“Sure.” he said before handing me the flip phone he had pulled out of his pocket. I dialed 911.

“Hello this is 911, what is your emergency?” the girl asked.

“Yes listen, I am Detective Emma Roads, I need you to get Detective Kwon Soon-young it is very urgent..” I said speaking very quickly.

“Yes Miss Roads, give me just a moment.” she said before putting the phone down. I wait a few more seconds before she got back on.

“I'm sorry Miss Roads but Detective Kwan has already went home. I can get you on the phone with Detective Hong if you would like.” she said it took me no time to respond.

“Yes please hurry.” she left once again and transferred me to Joshua's phone.

“Detective Hong.” his voice ringed through the phone.

“It's me. Chanyeol. He kidnapped me and I escaped but I need your help.” I said. “Oh my god Emma, what's wrong?! Where are you?!” his voice was leaking with panic.

“I'm at a convenience store somewhere on the West side of Seoul. It's by a diner and a library.” I said.

“I'm on my way. Don't move and stay with someone.” he said. I could hear him grabbing his coat and walking out to his car.

“Can you stay on the phone?” he asked starting the car.

“I can try.” I said. I sat there and waited while I heard him him driving and took comfort in the sounds coming through the phone.

He pulled up and ran inside the gas station when he saw me. He looked me up and down.

“Oh dear god. I am so sorry. We should have had someone stay with you.” he paused looking down at the marks and cuts everywhere.

“It's fine. Really. Just please take me home.” I said handing the man his phone back. I thanked him and then left with Joshua.

As we were in the car I noticed we weren't going to my apartment.

“Josh, where are we going?” I asked looking at him.

“Hospital.” he said making a turn.

“It's fine, please just take me home.” I said one more time.

“I’m sorry Emma but he kidnapped you out of your apartment, that means he knows where you live. It's not safe there anymore. After you go to the ER then you can stay at my house.” he said turning into the parking lot of Seoul Central Hospital.

“Ok.” I replied. He got out of the car and walked to my side and opened the door before I could get it open myself.

As soon as we walked in he made me go sit down while he got me checked in. After a few minutes he came to join me.

“Your all checked in and they'll come grab you and take you back to check you out in a minute or so.” he said sitting down.

“You didn't have to do this.” I said.

“Your my partner, of course I did” he said with an adorable smile. Wait, what am I thinking? I can't fall for my partner again. This isn't falling for him, it's more like a compliment that only I know about? Wait, why am I defending myself inside my own head? I eject the thought that is Joshua Hong from my head and go back into the real world.
