Ava's POV
Unlike the drive here, I felt a lot more at ease and was actually able to take in Brighton's scenic routes rather than fearing for my life. I probably should have felt a bit on edge considering that I had only known Harry for a couple of hours and he could easily kidnap me if he wanted, but I was far too hungry to actually care.
The radio was playing quietly accompined with what I can only describe as a drum solo off Harry with his wheel, which was actually quite entertaining to watch. It was like he was in his own little world, just drumming along to an overplayed pop song and bopping his head every now and again.
"I didn't have you down as a Katy Perry fan" I chuckled lightly, amused by his perfomance to Teenage Dream.
"Well Ava, I'm a man of many suprises" He laughed along, glancing over at me, a smirk spreading on his face. "She's hot, what's not to like ey?" he continued.
I rolled my eyes at his typical boyish remark, but agreed nevertheless. I turned my attention back to the window and noticed that we were back in the city centre, however I couldn't miss how eerie it all looked, especially at night. Groups of men were on every corner, and considering it was supposed to be a 'city centre' it seemed almost derelict. I looked over at Harry to see a stern look on his face, looking cautiously at the surroundings in front. I sensed from this that maybe it wasn't such a good idea to come out in the middle of the night to get food, but I think it was a bit late for second thoughts now.
Harry parked the car in one of the side streets and stopped the engine. He stayed silent for a few moments before turing his body to face me.
"Not to alarm you, but it is quite dodgy here at night, especially with everything that's been going on the past couple weeks so just.. stay close yeah? Don't wonder off..." he said quickly, before getting out the car and opening the door for me.
Well that was reassuring...not. I wish we were bloody eating the mouldy bread and pickles now, there's no way I wanted to get out the car. If I hadn't felt so anxious about getting out, I would've probably blushed at the fact he opened the door for me, but my mind was racing at a million miles an hour. Ever since Sean's death I had avoided going out in the streets at night, but here I was in the middle of a dodgy street in Brighton, all because I wanted some food! Jeez I really needed to re-evaluate my priorities.
Harry must have sensed my panicked state, as he offered out his hand and gave a gentle smile. I slowly took his hand, and as soon as I did he was leading me down the street with his freakishly long legs. I was practically running to keep up with him.
As we turned around the corner, I could see a few places that were still open at this time and luckily they weren't that far away. After walking for a couple minutes, we finally agreed to stop at a pizza shop, considering he did owe me a pizza so it seemed only right.
The shop was empty, however it still took a good 10 minutes for them to take our order, and another 20 minutes for the pizza to be cooked. As you can imagine Harry was raging; he was pacing up and down the shop and glaring at the poor server who only looked to be about 15. His impatience did amuse me however I did feel slight amount of guilt considering that it was my idea to come out, and by the looks of it he was definitely regretting it.
Luckily the pizza came out before Harry had a full on fit, and we started to head back to the car. Shouting could be heard as soon as we left the shop, but neither myself or Harry could locate where it was actually coming from. We walked cautiously down the street, fear slowly seeping in with each step I took, as the shouts only got louder and more intense.
As we got closer, it became clear that the shouts where coming from the side street that we had parked the car. Harry put his arm out in front to stop me from walking, and told me to 'stay put.' He slowly edged to the corner of the side street, and peered his head around slightly.
"Shit!" Harry whispered, before turning his body back to me and running his hands through his hair. He looked stressed, which only added to my worries because if he is panicking then it must be bad. I tried not to let my anxious state show by calmly asking 'what was happening', however the tremble in my voice gave it away that I was clearly shitting myself (not literally obvs hehe).
Harry quickly marched over to me and placed both his hands on my shoulders. He took a deep breath before saying "I need you to stay here! Let me take care of this and please for the love of God don't come around the corner until I say. Dan and Phil would kill me if anything happened to you, so just stay here, ok?"
I slowly nodded my head, swollowing the lump in my throat. Before I could even say anything, Harry had dissapeared around the corner and the piercing sound of gunshots could be heard.
Harry's POV
Adrenaline kicked in as soon as I fired the first shot, quickly running towards the all too familiar dickheads attempting to destroy my car. They should consider themselves lucky to be alive because if Liam hadn't been such a fucking idot and ruined the plan, they'd be six foot under already.
They call themselves The Elites which is fucking pathetic if you ask me and are run by the goverment to try and stop people like us from rebelling. Just like the corrupt goverment these groups are sinister, killing anything and everything that crosses their path. We've spent years trying to destroy them, but it's a lot easier said than done. We used to have so many members and people helping us try to stop these idiots, but the death toll was never ending and once the goverment started threating our famlies and loved ones, we pratically had no one left.
This didn't discourage myself and the boys though, we couldn't let this continue and so here we are, the 6 of us against the goverment and it's hundreds of gangs, what could go wrong ey?
Luckily there was only about 5 men surrounded by my car, which wasn't particually ideal but at least I had a weapon. Once the first gunshot was fired, they all turned around and starting charging towards me. Still aiming my gun at them, I managed to shoot 2 of the men in the chest, causing them both to fall to the ground, which then tripped over another member over, which was bloody fantastic. I shot the man that fell over in the foot, so there was no way he was gettig up for a while and then focussed my attention to the two guys that were still running towards me.
They also appeared to have guns, but hadn't manage to shoot me yet, which shows how fucking terrible they were. Unskilled bastards.
I continued to dodge the bullets with ease, almost laughing at how inadequate their perfomace was, however was quickly brought back to reality when something barged into me, causing me to fall to the floor. It was then brought to my attention that there was a sixth member that I hadn't spotted lurking in the background, and now he was currently on top of me, ready to kill me with his weapon of choice, which was a fucking axe! How delightful, I told you they were a lovely bunch.
The man currently about to murder me shouted at the other two men to 'leave' as he 'had it covered', which they obliged to, however they were leaving in the same direction that I entered, meaning that they would see Ava. Suddenly, I wasn't so worried about getting murdered anymore but more worried about Ava getting hurt. I knew I needed to act fast, as these guys clearly have no remorse and would not hesitate to abuse her in ways I don't even want to think of.
The man now had the axe against my neck, slowly sliding it across, however not deep enough to actually kill me. He was saying how he wanted to torture me and all that bullshit, but to be completly honset I wasn't really paying any attention to what he was saying, as I was more focussed on the two men that were beginning to walk around the corner.
As soon as they dissapeared, a few things happened at once. I spat in the mans face, which managed to catch him off guard, however in doing this he then applied more pressure to the axe, causing it to dig into my skin more. I then reached for the gun that had slipped out my hand when falling, and aimed it up at his head. The shot was sucessful and I quickly managed to move from under his body and get the fuck away from there.
I sprinted around the corner, terrified for the sight I was prepared to see but fucking hell was I surprised.
