I have gone to camp Higgins since I was 10, and every year was always the same. The same food, the same activities, the same cabins, the same everything. But every year no matter how much I didn't wanna go something always changed my mind and something always drew me back. Maybe it was the annual game of capture the flag, or maybe the smell of hot dogs on the fire, whatever it was I somehow loved camp and hated it at the same time.
By now I was seventeen turning eighteen and this would be the last year I could go to camp as a resident. But this was also the first year I had the option to be a counselor, if i was asked. Which more than likely I would've been.
It was June 5th only about a month before resident camp began, and only 2 weeks before counselor camp began. Usually this is around when the brochure and counseling information would be sent out so as usual I went out to check the mail.
Bill, bill, postcard from aunt Hellen, the letter, bill. Wait the letter I finally got the letter in the mail! I ran inside to open it. I could barely grasp my hands around the envelope to open the flap but I finally got it and it read.
Dear Skyler Grey,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been selected to be one of our elite camp counselors for the year of 2014. Seeing as you have attended the camp before as a resident you know most of the precautions and
responsibilities of a counselor at our facility. But as a safety precaution we ask that you take our special counselor training program prior to
attending camp as a counselor. We ask that you respond to the number below and and we hope to see you at training on June the 10th.
Thank you miss Grey we hope to be hearing from you.
Mr. Higgins
This is so exciting I knew my parents would be okay with it because we had already discussed it the other day. So I called right away.
The phone rang and rang until I heard an unfamiliar voice pick up.
"Hello camp Higgins, Luke speaking how may I help you?"
I froze I didn't know what to say so I just started with a...
"Hi, um I was calling regarding a letter I got in the mail about becoming a counselor at the camp my name is-"
"Skyler Grey. Right? Or am I totally wrong because that would be embarrassing!" Luke chuckled at that.
"Um yeah thats me. Hi. Well I just wanted to say that I will be joining as a counselor this year and that I am coming to camp training."
"Okay" Luke said "what age group would you like to be in?"
I thought about this for a moment and kind of blanked out.
"Hello? Is anyone still there?" I snapped back and answered.
"Oh sorry I dropped the phone" why did you say that?
"Um I would like to be in the seven to eight year old group."
"Okay is there anyone you want to be counseling that age with you? I mean we usually don't do that but because you were one of the first to call I can put you with anyone because I am doing scheduling."
"Yeah can you put Bella jones in that group?"
"That doesn't surprise me at all." Luke laughed at his statement
"What do you mean?"
"No it's just you two have always been inseparable for as long as I've known you."
"Oh well okay is that all then for registration?"
"Yeah and see you on June 10th bye Skye"
Luke hung up before I got to say anything else. Skye? No one has ever called me that before. And how did he know that it was me that called we have never spoken a word to each other before today. Whatever I was to excited for camp to worry about Luke. I had to pack I had to do some shopping for a new bathing suit I had to get going.
Please excuse any grammatical errors I looked over it as best I could and so yeah. This is my 2nd story and I am still currently working on my first story called 'starting over' starting over is a Niall Horan fanfic. If you could go and check that out and vote for that one as well as this one that would be great and I would love you forever! Anyway I hope you like this story and I hope it is good and just yeah so just leave your comments and such and votes and yeah thanks!
