Riya's pov: As I stepped out into the bright sunlight of my house, I only had two things on my mind: Ponyboy and Johnnycakes. We were supposed to go see a movie with Dally, but I couldn't find em' anywhere. Darry told me not to look for them, but I just wanted to see them, so I went anyways. I started heading for the lot, since they are always there.
When I got there, they were nowhere to be seen. Then I heard a sound. Almost like a .... Meow? I walked over to the nearby ally to see a cat stuck in a locked cage. I just couldn't stand to see a poor kitty like that! I took out the switchblade that Johnny gave me to protect myself, which he stole from dally, which dally stole from a store. ANYWAYS, I took out my blade and tried to brake the lock. It was unsuccessful. But I couldn't just leave this kitty to starve all alone! So I picked up the cage, which was hard because I'm kind of small, and started off towards it the DX to see if Soda could use some bolt cutters to brake the lock and open the cage.
It was a struggle to walk because the cage was big and I couldn't see over it. Everything was going fine and dandy till I bumped into something... Or someone? I herd an " Ow!" And then I said," Oh.. I-I-I ....I'm really sorry! I-i didn't mean to.." My voice was whacky because I didn't know who I knocked over. "Riya ?" The all to familiar voice said. "Ponyboy?" I was so happy to have found him." Hiya Riya." Another voice said." Johnnycakes!!" I said very happy I bumped into them... Literally. " so ... Are you going to tell us what's in the cage... Or..." Ponyboy asked. " well, if you MUST know, I found a KITTY!" I said with joy. " oh no, Riya, you know you can't keep it. You get emotionally attached to everything. And if anything ever happened, it'd be just like the skunk incident. " Johnny said with some hint of concern in his soft voice. " I loved him, and he was not JUST some skunk! His name was Kyle! And it's not my fault that he dug under our house and had babies! Then Darry had him relocated... PLEASE I just Really really want a kitty! Please?" I asked with puppy dog eyes, which not even Dally can resist. " it's not me or Johnny you have to ask, it's Darry." Pony said. " well I was just bout to head over to the DX to see if Sodeepop could brake this lock, I already tried my blade and it didn't work." After I said that, I instantly regretted it. Pony didn't know I had a blade, only Johnny, dally and Two-bit did, and I'd like to keep it that way. Darry would skin me if he saw me with a blade. " excuse me? Riya Elise Curtis! Do you have a blade!" Ponyboy asked. I just looked at Johnny for help and he said" I gave it to her! I'm sorry, I just wanted her to be safe." Ponyboy turned his attention towards Johnny and I mouthed " thank you" to Johnny, even though it was the truth, I'm glad he helped. " well, at least she don't have a heater, or cancer sticks or nothin like that. Then I would be mad. But I'm not mad now, just make sure Darry or Sodapop don't find out." Ponyboy said. And with that, we went to the DX.
