I didn't move a muscle. I didn't breathe. I knew what Elisa did. I knew she left him, I heard Patrick talking with Pete once. She was in Italy, but she also left him. I wasn't mad with her or judged her. I think she had every right to do what she did. But, if I was correct, this was the first time they'd have contact since she left. I heard Patrick get up and walk towards the front of the bus. I held my breathe trying to listen.

"No, it's okay. I'm not mad."

Silence. Everyone else was either sleeping, or listen like I was. I felt bad for doing that, but I felt like I had to.

"Listen, how are you? How's your mom?"

Patrick waited for her response and I finally was brave enough to breathe again.

"I'm sorry. I am so sorry. Words can never say how sorry I am for hurting you but-" He stopped and I guessed that she was talking back. Not sure if that's a good thing, or bad. "And you have every right to be mad. I was an asshole to the woman I love and you deserve better than me. But I love you way too much to let you go." He was speaking softly but I could hear the emotion in his voice.

"I love you too. And I've never stopped loving you." I took a deep breath and hoped for the best. Too. He said too. THAT MEANS SHE SAID IT FIRST! THIS IS GOOD. Seconds passed, and seconds turned into minutes. I was anxious. Someone say something!! "Really?" Really? Really what? "No, yes I-I understand." He sounded happy. "Yes. I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you." I smiled hearing him say that. They're making up! I think . . . A minute passed and then I heard him say, "She's fine. I brought her on tour with me. She's enjoying herself, I think." She? Is he talking about me? If so, did she ask about me!? Holy smokes, huge honor.

"Yes, I will." And then they started talking, like personal talking. He asked her about about Italy and told her how's it going on tour. He even told her how well behaved I am and what a delight I am to be around, which made me blush furiously. They were talking about a movie that came out  a while back when I heard Pete get up. He walked towards the front and said, "Who're you talking to Patrick?" "Elisa." I don't know how Pete reacted but I heard him say, "Awesome man."

At around 8 am, he said, "Already? Okay, when do you think you're coming back?" Coming back? Oh My God, when is she move back with us? How will it be? I don't know her, she doesn't know me. But, Patrick will be happy, that's all that matters. I mean, it'll probably just be akward the first week or so, but everything will be good after. Yeah, that's it. I smiled and waited for Patrick to say something.

"Great! We can spend Thanksgiving and Christmas together!" Okay, she's coming back sometime November. I felt so happy. A family. I'll have a family. A mom and a dad. "I love you. Bye." I heard him stand up and walk somewhere but I closed my eyes pretending to sleep. After a few minutes I pretended to wake up, in case someone was watching.

I got out of the bunk and walked towards the front. Patrick sat on one of the couches smiling. I smiled. "Good morning. Why you so happy?" Like you don't know, I thought to myself. He looked up at me smiling. "Elisa called. Her mother's better. She, um, is coming back once her mother's treatment is done in late October." He smiled brightly.  "Wonderful. I can't wait for her to come back." I smiled too because it was true. I wanted her to come back.

Andy and Pete walked in and Patrick stood up. "I'm gonna go somewhere. I'll be back later." "Where are you going?" Andy asked. "Somewhere." He went back to the bunk area. He came back changed with balck skinny jeans and a white t-shirt, of course with his fedora. He was halfway out the door when he stopped with a smile and said, "Cora, come with me. Father Daughter time." My eues widened with surprise. "Um, let me just change." I ran to the bunk area to change into blue shorts and a superman shirt.

I walked back to see Patrick with a happy face, like really really happy. "Alright let's go." Patrick stepped out and before I did  Andy said, "Talk care of him. A man in love is a dangerous one." I giggled and walked out.

Patrick stared out squinting his eyes because of the sun. "Well, we need to go rent a car." As we walked to the car rental I watched his face. He was in love. I'd never really seen someone in love. You see, my mom and dad didn't work out. Amd everyone else I'd seen had gotten divorced or seemed unhappy with no love. I had started to lose hope about love. Maybe it doesn't exist, I'd think. But here was Patrick proving me wrong. I wonder where we're going.

We rented a nice blue Toyota Corolla. "So, you wanna go to the movies?"
