Nothing really important happened after Elisa's arrival but holidays. The first week of October I was jumping all over the living room while Patrick and Elisa watched tv.
"Guys, guess what?"
"What?"
"Halloween!"
Patrick raised his eyebrow. "It's in like 3 weeks, no?" I nodded.
"Yes, but we need costumes!" I jumped on the couch and made sure leave my head on Patrick's lap to look at him. "Let's go buy costumes!"
Elisa stood up and stretch. "We should go buy costumes today. You're booked til October 23 and by then there will be no good costumes."
Patrick tried to protest by saying he was watching a movie, but Elisa and I weren't going to take it. "Come on," I said. He groaned and stood up. I grabbed the keys and ran to the car.
We decided to go to this big warehouse that had a variety of costumes. Elisa said we all had to get a costume. I made my way to the teenage girl section because a) I was more developed that most girls and b) I'm fat.
I was in between a waitress in the 80s and Alice in Wonderland. It was a tough choice, but I went with Alice in Wonderland. I walked over to the women costumes where I found Elisa. She wanted to be a greek goddess. Trust me, that white floor length dress looked amazing on her. Patrick decided to be a cowboy and he rocked the boots.
October 30th came around and I was trying to hide the present I got for Jaime. It was a necklace she kept talking about. It sat on top of my books in my backpack. When I arrived to class, Jaime had ballons that said happy birthday (in blue of course since she loved blue). She had a small party hat on and Angelina kept telling everyone it was her birthday so they could say happy birthday to her.
"Happy Birthday!" I hugged her and opened my backpack. I grabbed the wrapped present and handed it to her. She shook it.
"I wonder what it is."
"It's probably drugs," Angel said.
"Sshhh, it was supposed to be a surprise," I said.
Jaime opened it to find the silver necklace she'd been been wanting since forever. It took me a week's chores and allowances for that. "You could wear it to the dance tomorrow," I said.
"Nah, I'm not going."
The truth was the dance was more for the 7th and 8th graders. Only the popular 6th graders went. The others were too shy to go. I wasn't going. But all in good time.
We pretty much spoiled Jaime that day. We bought her something at the vending machines and gave her all our attention. "Guys, I feel weird when you give me all the attention," Jaime said.
"We know, we just don't care," Angel said.
At the end of lunch, Jaime said, "No cake? Really? You guys failed exceptionally." Angel and I stared at each other with wide eyes.
"You were supposed to bring the cake," she said.
"No, you were. I told you, 'Bring the cake for Jaime,'."
"Yes, but then I called you and-"
"No you didn't-"
"I did and-"
"Hahaha," Jaime interrupted. "I was kidding guys. I don't like cakes anyways. They're overrated." Angel and I smiled at each other and sighed in relief.
The next day was Halloween! I woke up a ball of energy (which was rare on weekdays) and put on my costume. It took me like half an hour to straighten my hair but it was accomplished.
