A month had passed since the engagement, and the whole family couldn't have been more excited. Trying to put the meeting with her Ex Husband aside, Heidi focused more on her new life with her new fiancé, and soon to be step-son. The couple had decided to move in together, the Hansens moving in with the Heeres. Heidi was happy to move away from the house which had so many bad memories. Now, there would only be her new house with her new husband and son.
Evan was anxious, to say the least. A new house? With new people? Whom he had only net a couple of times? Okay, maybe he was a little more than anxious.
"Honey, calm down, everything is going to be fine." Heidi assured her son after she spied his shaking hands. She was also nervous, though she wouldn't show it. Evan didn't respond, only giving her a little nod in return.
It wasn't long before the two arrived at their new home. It was a little bigger than their other one, but they did only have two people in their old house. The two moved to the back of the truck they had rented to carry their things. Paul dragged Jeremy out to help. Heidi and Evan, of course, were grateful for their help.
Jeremy wasn't too excited about having to share his room. On the bad side, he'd have to change his... morning routine. On the good side, he'd finally get a cool bunk bed! Plus, he got to have the bottom bunk, so he didn't have to climb up to his bed every morning! Evan wanted the top bunk, just because he loved to climb. It reminded him of trees.
"So, I guess we're roommates now?" Jeremy spoke up as Evan folded a light red polo and put it in his side if the dresser.
"Yeah... Guess we are..." The older boy nodded, nerves still ripe in his stomach. "We'll be brothers soon..."
A smile graced Jeremy's face. "I can't believe I have a brother. I mean, I've been an only child for my whole life... It's just..."
"Peculiar?" Evan looked up.
"Yes! Like, weird. But in a good way- not like it's bad- you know-"
"I get it." Evan chuckled, suddenly feeling more comfortable with Jeremy. "It is-" The boy was suddenly cut off by the sound of his cellphone going off. "Hold on, I gotta take this..." He sheepishly mumbled. The call was from Connor, so of course his worrying mind had to answer. "Hello? Are you hurt? Are you sad? Is everything oka-"
"Evan, babe, everything is fine." Evan could hear Connor laughing on the other end. "I just wanted to see if you needed any help today? I heard you were moving."
"Well- Uh- I mean we got most of it all lifted in I just have a fee boxes of like clothes and books I need to unpack, but you don't need to help because I th-"
"I'm basically asking if I can come over." Connor sighed, cutting Evan off. "Zoe is driving me nuts with this Shakespeare stuff, so I need to get out before I decide to throw a printer at her." There was a small pause, Evan slightly scared by the thought of Connor throwing another printer again. "Ev, I'm kidding. But I seriously need to get away from this whole 'Where fore art thou' stuff."
"Alright." Evan gave in. "You can come over, if you really want to."
"Sweet! Thanks, Babe! Love you."
"Love you too." Evan hung up, a smile on his face.
"So..." Jeremy looked at Evan, the older boy turning a little red when he remembered his soon-to-be stepbrother was in the room. "I'm assuming your girlfriend is coming over or...?"
Evan was suddenly conflicted. His mom still didn't know about his boyfriend, so should he tell Jeremy? And what if Jeremy was homophobic? "Well... sort of?" Evan stalled. Connor was going to come over anyway... he might as well be honest with Jeremy. "My- Uh- b-boyfriend is coming over, actually..."
"So you're...?" Jeremy didn't finish his sentence. He felt a little rush of comfort wash over him. Jeremy was bi, though he wasn't out to anyone. Perhaps it was his chance to come out to at least one person?
"Bi." Evan finished the boy's sentence. "I- I have a boyfriend, but I like girls too?"
"That's- That's cool-" Jeremy took a deep breath. "Can you keep a secret? You know, since we're gonna be brothers and all."
Evan nodded, leaving Jeremy to speak again. "I'm... I'm bi too... just please- Don't tell anyone! No one knows yet and I'm too scared to say anything-"
"Jeremy, It's okay." Evan hesitantly put a hand on Jeremy's shoulder. "My mom doesn't know about my boyfriend so, I get it..."
Jeremy just smiled at him. "Cool... glad I got that off my chest... If it isn't too much, could I ask you to help me run lines for this play I'm in?"
Evan nodded, "Sure! What play is it?"
"Romeo and Juliet."A/N: Hey guys! Sorry I haven't updated in a while, I didn't know where I wanted this story to go. But now, I'm back, and I'll try to update more often!
