Note: I couldn't find what Jeremy's Dad's first name was, so I just made one up. If someone knows what it is, please let me know! Thank you!!

Twelve years seemed to drag for Heidi, single parenthood being harder than she had expected. Yes, she knew it would be tough, but she didn't quite know how tough it would be. She needed serious help. She worked long hours just to provide for her son and give him the life he deserved. She knew it was all she could do. But, everything still wasn't perfect, and Evan, now sixteen years of age, was hurting for a fatherly figure. Yes, he did love his mother dearly, but he wanted a normal family and friends. This was something Heidi could see. She wanted to help her son out, but she wasn't sure how, until one fateful day.
Heidi Hansen took a breath before reaching for the keys to her car. She had to do what she did every Sunday, her only day off. Go to the grocery store. The mother took no time getting into her car and driving to the place, which seemed like it would never change.
Heidi needed some kind of change in her life. Everyday seemed to be the same exact boring thing. She thought this to herself as she entered the store and grabbed a cart.
The woman grabbed half of the things on her list before coming to the one item she needed most. Milk. She started to make her way to the milk section, not noticing the man going the opposite direction. Their carts crashed together, Heidi's yogurt falling out of her cart.
"Oh, I-I'm so sorry!" The man said to Heidi before leaning down to help her pick up her yogurt.
"It's fine, I-" Heidi was cut off when she and the man reached for the yogurt at the same time. She looked up, meeting his gaze for the first time. "I- I should have been watching where I was going..." She shyly smiled at him. He smiled back.
The man picked up the yogurt and handed it back to her. "You're probably going to want that... It must be what keeps you so pretty... I'm sorry, that was dumb." He chuckled.
A blush appeared on Heidi's cheeks. "No, no, it was cute!" She held out her hand, "I'm Heidi, by the way."
He shook her hand, a little awkwardly. "It's a pleasure to meet you Heidi... I'm Paul... Paul Heere. Well, not the the word here, it's just, it's my last name. Sorry, I'm starting to ramble."
Heidi laughed, finding his rambling cute. "It's fine, it's fine." She bit her lip before writing her number down on a piece of paper. "Here... So I can hear you ramble more." She gave Paul the piece of paper before getting her cart and continuing her shopping.
