I stopped Adam, "cover for me, I don't know if I'll be back."
"Why?" he asked confused.
I looked around to make sure that nobody was around, "I smell a dragon."
"What? How? Where? What do they smell like?" I don't know why I didn't suspect these questions. Curiosity Is the mindset of humans.
"Okay let me answer your questions in order. I smell a dragon. I am a dragon. On the outskirts of town. Burning leather," I said.
"Burning leather? Are you sure that's a dragon?" he asked raising an eyebrow.
"Yes, I do," I don't have time for these questions.
"Can I come with you?" he asked to my dismay.
I nearly facepalmed myself, "No Adam, you cannot come. I am going to face a dragon."
"Duh, sorry, blonde moment," he said with a sheepish smile.
"It's fine, just cover for me in class, Okay?"
"Okay."
I looked around one last time before I raced off. There was something that I didn't add about dragons in my essay. For the fact that we put our entire dragon form, we have what humans would refer to as super speed and strength.
While I was using superspeed, everything slowed to a fraction of its normal speed. It was like watching the world in slow motion. It is a beautiful sight to see. Anyway, back to the task at hand.
I followed the dragons sent. The dragon far away, and whoever it was is very powerful. If we were to have a fight with this dragon, even in human form, we would destroy this town.
I finally slowed down when I saw a figure atop of the hill on the edge of town.
I walked toward him. Although I use Conseal to hide my scent, he definitely heard me coming from a mile away. I extended my sword from my ring. This ring was my most prized possession.
I was a few feet from the dragon when he turned around. I froze in surprise, "Uncle?" I've only met him once when I was eight. He was almost as powerful of a dragon as my blasted father. I shivered at the thought of that bastard.
"Nick?" his eyes shot to the sword extending from my ring. "So you're the infamous dragonslayer? My own flesh and blood."
"Why are you here?" I asked leveling my sword with his chest.
"Well, I planned to come and take care of you once and for all," his eyes shot to my ring, "but it looks like my plans have changed."
"I-" I started to say.
"I now know why you are doing it, and no I won't tell you where he is," he said. "But I will tell you, you are missing the full story. And because of that you are hurting or going to hurt people for nothing. Stop hunting for him, and killing my, no our people," he turned back around. "Or next time I won't show you mercy."
Anger flared in my chest, "what makes you think that I will show you mercy?"
I rushed at him, but even being a few feet from him, and with my superspeed, I was too late. He launched himself a few feet away from me. Then he let out an inhuman roar as he shifted from human to a large black dragon.
"Nomeno ui dout ergriff cotuir," a monstrous deep voice vibrated the air in a language I knew by heat. Dragonic.
I watched him soar high in the sky, and disappear in the clouds.
