It felt like she was falling in slow motion. She knew she was screaming as she fell, but she couldn't hear a thing, only the ringing in her ears as she plummeted towards the ground. It was absolutely terrifying-- falling to your doom like this.

I didn't even get to say goodbye, Anne thought heart-wrenchingly. Tears formed in her eyes as she thought that these would be her last moments on this Earth. Right now all she could do was pray.

So she prayed for anything she could think of

She prayed for any form of forgiveness.

She prayed to see the days ahead of her if it were possible. She just wanted to see her darling friends and family again...

She prayed that she wouldn't be forgotten.

And she prayed that she could spend more time with one more person.... And she hated herself for even thinking this...She just wanted to apologize to Gilbert Blythe for every time she pushed him off. She looked to the heavens with her head held high and she fell to her demise.

She hit the stage floor hard enough to knock the wind out of her and for a second Anne could have sworn she saw her soul fly out of her body for a split second. Her eyes saw stars and she yelped out in pain. She heard the screaming and shouts of her name around her.

But that wasn't the end.

She bounded off of the stage, she was in too much pain to even stop herself from this. The next thing she knew was the sickening crunch of bone against the hardwood floor and the extreme pain that shot to her right hand. Her screaming intensified and she could hear the muffled cries from around her.

"Anne!" she heard Gilbert cry. He was getting closer. She looked up with her blurry eyes and cried as she clutched her wrist with her good hand. Hot tears spilled from her eyes as she saw him get closer and closer. He held her in his arms, cradling her small figure. She was so small without that air of confidence he usually saw her with. It pained him to see Anne like this.

His grief suddenly turned to rage as he glared daggers at Billy who was cowering around the scene. He turned to Charlie, who watched with sad eyes. "Charlie go get ice," he turned to Mr. Phillips, "Go get the doctor right now. Her wrist is definitely broken." Gilbert's voice nearly broke during the last sentence.

"It was an accident!!" Billy exclaimed, trying to lift the blame off of him. Everything was an accident when it comes to Billy causing more trouble than he can manage. A broken window—an accident. Destroying prized possessions—an accident. He never learned how to accept his faults and the consequences of them.

Gilbert ignored this and turned back to the weeping girl in his arms. "Shh," He cooed, "Its going to be okay, Anne. It's going to be okay." A tear slipped from his eye and he wiped it away.

Diana crumpled to the floor near them and sobbed, grasping at Anne as tears streamed down her face. "Anne, oh Anne. I surely thought you were..." she trailed off and started crying again, tears staining her blue dress.

The doctor finally came and took Anne away, Gilbert following them solemnly. All of the brightness in the atmosphere left the town hall and everyone was affected tremendously.
