You weren't sure about gods and mythical creatures, but if it was true, then surely Jooheon was the devil; he was beauty itself, charming and truly angelic, but you knew that the path you wanted to stride down would only punish you.
Light-headed from the rush of emotions as he kissed you, you stumbled backward as you were freed from his embrace, crashing into a table with empty glasses and bottles. The echo of shattering glass cut through your ears and awoke the entire flat. You couldn't explain how, but as quick as lightning, the one you knew to be Minhyuk stood in front of you with a gun pointed at your head. The rest came shortly thereafter, creating a wall between you and Jooheon, who both stood with eyes locked in each other. Your silence truly said more than words, for you both were confused. The stare was broken down as your focus suddenly shifted over to the gun. Why didn't he tell Minhyuk to stand down? Is this what it would always be? How could they ever trust a police? You'd constantly be mistrusted, put under suspicion and threatened. That realisation hurt more than you expected. You couldn't stay here right now, anywhere but here, you had to clear your head. Turning on your heel you rushed out of the flat and escaped via the elevator out onto the street. Some people arched their eyebrows on you, but you quickly blended in as you began walking, attempting to find out where you were. After passing a street sign, you snuck onto a bus and let out a breath of relief. There's no way they'd chase you. In the corner of the bus, you watched the day to day life on the street, feeling like you were in a movie. Had the past days even occurred? The pain in your abdomen proved that was the case. Were you catching emotions for Jooheon? That thought made it sound like you had caught a cold, but the problems this realisation caused you perhaps ensured that the thought wasn't completely invalidated. Faster than expected, the bus arrived at the stop you wanted. Going home right now would be a risk, and you had to report everything that had happened.
"By god's graces!" The receptionist dropped her pencil and gasped as you entered the police station, then rushed up.
"No need, Ji-woo." You motioned your hand for her to sit down, feeling more tired than ever. The bandage had become undone, so halfway up the stairs, you began limping to compensate for the growing pain. As you entered the office, you found it to be under full stress. The officers were walking around, talking loudly and waving papers. It all froze as you came in.
"[Y/N]?! It's [Y/N]!" Jangmi shouted, dropping her papers and running up to you. "We've been investigating your disappearance for two days! Are you alright? Where have you been?"
"We need to talk to the Inspector..." You smiled, using her as support to enter the office of the chief inspector, who looked surprised. After seating yourself and breathing out, you took time to explain all the way from the evening and the van to the... Suddenly you wanted to leave out the last details. What was wrong with you? Not telling them that Jooheon had taken cared of you would be absolutely wrong. Yet, what difference would it make? Not to mention, he saved you, right?
It took the entire day to get statements, paperwork and your wound re-patched before you were ordered to one of the police-owned apartments to rest. All of your energy washed away once more as you sat down on the sofa in the small apartment. Clearly, it wasn't safe for you to walk around yourself or to be alone, so this place was like a safe hold. Silence echoed between the walls and your thoughts wandered to Jooheon. For the first time in a long time, you felt very, very lonely.
-Jooheon's POV-
She had looked so scared, and you felt extremely guilty you hadn't told Minhyuk to lower the gun, but she had sprinted off before you had collected yourself from the kiss. Was this truly a heartache? Shownu had given you upset stares as you had sunken down in the sofa with a cigarette, but they all knew better than to try to reason with you right now. Did [Y/N] disapprove of cigarettes? That thought suddenly made you toss it away with an annoyed grunt. It was a bother caring so much about someone. After all these weeks you had told yourself she was a police, on the other side, it wouldn't work... But right now, you didn't care. You had to see her again.
