Jenna walked around the park, snapping pictures of little sceneries.

She hadn't talked to Katie since Friday and today was Sunday, which isn't the longest they've gone without talking, but it still felt like an eternity.

The sun was blazing on her face, and she was sweating already. She strode over to stand in a shaded spot underneath a tree. She pulled her camera up to her eyes and snapped a photo of a family walking across the green grass. As she pulled the camera away, someone tapped her shoulder. If it wasn't the third time she's felt that, she would've turned and kneed the person in the crotch.

But since it was the third time, she simply turned around and locked with eyes as green as the grass. Dimples carved into his cheeks and a lopsided smile crossed his face.

Jenna was Speechless.

She hadn't realized her heart was beating faster than normal and she clutched her camera tighter.

"Hey," he said.

Jenna nearly collapsed with shaking knees. His voice was so filled with an accent, it rang smoothly in her ears. She'd be lying if she said he wasn't the most beautiful man to walk on earth.

Okay, maybe she was exaggerating, but if the only guys she thought was cute (or decent, at least) is two boys from First Grade. Johnny and Parker. Only two crushes, so expectations were pretty high, and this guy definitely broke all.

Her eyes trailed down to his flannel shirt and ripped jeans. They were incredibly tight.

"I'm sorry, I kinda just left you the other day."

Yeah, no shit, she thought.

She nodded instead.

"Do you mind if we hang out?"

No, no. Not at all, she thought, but didn't say anything.

Her knees gave in and she sat, landing roughly on her bum. She turned her face away, so he couldn't see her contorted face as she internally screamed in pain.

"You come here often?"

Her stomach did flips, as she heard his voice next to her. He must've sat down, she thought. She dared to face straight ahead, and saw his smile out of the corner of her eye.

He had asked a question? What was it? Oh, that's right!

"Yeah, to be alone." She resisted from face palming herself because why did she just say? She basically told him to leave, which is not what she wanted.

"Can I be alone with you?"

A giddy smile spread over her lips and she raised her camera to snap a picture.

Snap. Whirr.

The sound calmed her nerves.

She turned back to see him smiling really big. She wondered why, there wasn't really anything happening. Was it something she said? No, she barely said four words. Was it her look?

She glanced down at her clothes. No, I look pretty decent, she thought. What could it be? Or maybe she was over-thinking this.

"Do you come here often," she shot back. When she turned around she expected to see the space next to her empty, but he was kneeling right beside her.

"Every now and again. Just to get of the house."

She nodded in response. That's when it clicked, he had an accent and he obviously wasn't from America. "Where r'you from?"

"A place," he replied with sarcasm, but for some reason Jenna didn't feel offended like she would've if it was anybody else.

"No," she gasped, "really?" She added as much sarcasm as he did. "I mean, you have an accent, so you're obviously not from America."

He seemed to contemplate this. "Great Britain," he responded.

"Why'd you come to America?" She felt like an interviewer with all these questions.

"Job."

"Oh, you work?" Jenna cut in before he could finish.

"No, my dad's job."

"What does he work as?" She was so intrigued by him, but didn't know why. Maybe his dark green eyes, which held some sort of secret. Or maybe it was his disappearance on Friday, but for the life of her she couldn't figure out why as she searched his eyes.

"A journalist. His job required for her to do an assignment here in Texas."

"Oh, God, what could be so interesting here in Texas?" She giggles loudly, a habit she's had for as long as she can remember. She usually giggles like that when she's nervous. Does this boy make her nervous? 'Course not, she thought.

"I don't know, really," he says, dismissing her nervous giggle, which to him was actually pretty cute.

She bit her lip to keep from giggling again, and snapped a picture. She willed herself to keep from looking at him, but after a while she couldn't help it and as she turned they locked eyes. His green gaze was so enticing, she thought that if she was standing, she would stumble right back on her bum again. His face inched closer, his lips dangerously close.

She blinked twice. "I, Uh, I have to go." But, really, she didn't have to, though, she wanted to. To escape that park. To escape that moment. To escape from him.

Jenna tugged at her hair, pacing back and forth in her room. She had gotten home and ran to her room. Her heart was racing then because she had ran all the way home, but that wasn't the only factor that caused her erratic heartbeat. His green eyes and plump, pink lips were still fresh in her mind. What was she thinking, to almost kiss him? To almost kiss a guy she barely knew- barely met at that.

She plopped down on her bed. She took deep breaths, calming herself. It didn't help.. well, slightly. It didn't work, though. She stood and walked over to the door and swung it open, exiting through the back door.

She had a fairly large backyard, enough space for a patio, a swing set, a children's castle, and an old barbecue pit. She walked along the grass, and came across a pretty pink flower growing in the brown dirt. She positioned herself into a kneel with her camera. She snapped a picture.

Her nerves relaxed at the familiar sound. She's always used her camera for comfort. Ever since a year ago, ever since her- she hates to think about it.

She quickly brought up the camera again and took a picture of a tall and wide Oak Tree. She resisted to let the tear that budged to slip away. She inhaled deeply, and exhaled slowly.

"Jenna," Dean called.

She stood and turned around swiftly. She gulped down the rock in her throat. "Yeah."

"Mom's home, she brought pizza!"

The sound of pizza enlightened her a bit. "Be right there!" She sighed and made her way back inside.

"Jenna, are you still gonna want me to take you school?" Jenna's mom asked.

"Yeah, if it's okay?"

"It's not a problem."

They didn't say anything afterward and ate their pizza silently. She usually eats in her room when her mother brings home food, today would just be a one time thing because, as you can tell, its very awkward.

She placed her plate in the sink and awkwardly walked by them as she made her way to her room.
