intoxication

Rock me to sleep.
When the night time comes,
I want your sweet voice,
singing lullabies into my ears.
As the sun shines back,
All I want to see is your smile,
And the drunk ghost lingering,
In the greens of your eyes.

My fingers will trace the scars,
And my lips will kiss the pain away.
But I can only do too much,
To silence the whispers,
and the mouths,
Of the demons on our backs.

I know it's only temporary.
The love between our eyes.
Right now let's make the most of it,
And run off into the skies.
I'll hold onto your heart,
If you'll hold onto mine.
Promise you'll let go,
When she begins to cry.

This isn't my fault.
Neither is it yours.
We just both fell into hell,
And mistook it for heaven.
We tasted the poison in our tongues,
And saw the stars swirling down.

I've cried a lifetime to find you,
And now you're here,
In arms reach begging for my touch.
I know I can, I just don't know how.
Maybe someday when it's right,
And not when I'm tied.
