Third Person POV

It's the day of the last game of the volleyball season. A week after Zach got his cast off coach let him play in the games.

Zach, Jack, and Christina were the unstoppable trio of the team. They'd work together and with all three of them, rack up the points.

Jonah had talked to the people at the hospital to tell them that when Zach calls or comes by to ask if he could see his dad, to tell him that he's doing okay, but can't walk and is very tired and weak.

It's technically not a lie because the first few days after Josh Herron woke up, he was weak, and he could barely stand. For the past four to five weeks he's been going to physical therapy and has gotten better at walking. Now, he can walk almost perfectly, but stumbles every now and then and his legs get a little shaky when standing up.

Now, back to game day.

The boys just picked up Zach from his house and are currently on their way to school. They were all jamming out to music getting pumped for the game, and to hide the others boys' excitement about the surprise for Zach later today.

The boys pull up to the school hopping out of the car and walking into the school. Jack, Zach, met up with Christina and talked about the game, and all were matching wearring their volleyball jerseys and jackets.

They walked down the hall to Jack and Zach's locker to get their stuff, and split off for first period because Christina's is across the school.

"Okay boys can you stop yapping about the game and talk to us?!?" Daniel asked.

"Sorry." Zach said.

"Yeah sorry. We're just so excited! It's the final game of the season and it's the finals!!!" Jack said jumping up and down in excitement, not caring that people in the halls were staring at him.

"We get it you guys are excited, but the game isn't until later, so calm down" Jonah told the two laughing a little while they all walked to first period.

Throughout the day, the whole volleyball team lit up the room that they were in because of how ecstatic they were for this final game. Football season had begun a week after volleyball, and the games were the day after a volleyball game, and the homecoming game was coming up next week.

"Game time!" Jack yelled walking into the boys locker room with Zach.

"I'm so hype bro I can't wait to win this!" Zach says changing quickly into his uniform with Jack changing as well.

"Yup. I hear that they have some announcement at the end of the game too" Jack says subtly hinting at the surprise for Zach, while Zach himself is totally oblivious to the fact that there is a surprise for him later.

The game was close. First match was 25-23 RidgeView taking the win. Second match was 25-22 going to the opposing team.

The score was 24-22. It was Zach's serve, the serve that decides whether they win or not.

He walks to the serving line, nervousness washing over him, but once Jack tosses him the ball, the nerves dissolve a bit. He hits the ball down to the ground a few times getting the feel for the serve.

He raises his hand up with the ball, pulls his arm back, tosses the ball up and hits it. The ball has a perfect topspin to it, and goes over the net perfectly.

The other team bumps up the ball, someone sets it, then another person goes for a spike down.

"Down down down!" Zach yelled hoping someone would receive it since he was in the back.

Christina gets the down ball, and pops it back up to Jack. He does a high set.

"Zach it's you!" Jack yelled as he sets it up high close to the net.

Zach runs up to it, the other team calling a down ball, so he takes his chances. When his hand made contact with the ball, he tips it catching the other team off guard, them not being able to return the ball.

Everything goes in slow motion for Zach. The whistle is blown, signaling that they just won the game. The whole team and all the students of RidgeView jump up from the stands and cheer.

Then it sets into Zach's mind. They just won the final championship. Jack, Corbyn, Daniel, and Jonah all approach Zach with big smiles on their faces. Jonah giving Zach a hug and a quick peck on the lips causing some students to 'awe' at them.

Then, a path forms and what Zach sees next was something he couldn't believe.

Zach's POV

We were celebrating our win, when a small path started to clear, and there, standing up, was my dad. The man who had been there for me when my mom disowned me. He was there through it all. He's okay.

I started to cry a little, thinking he could never walk again, but there he is, walking over to me. I'm too frozen in shock to move, so Jonah gives me a light push, and I fall into my fathers embrace.

"D-dad... Is it r-really you?" I ask crying into his jacket.

"Yeah Zach. It's really me." He says.

"You're o-okay" I say crying more.

"I'm always gonna be here Zach. Whenever you need me. I'm not gonna leave you." My dad says holding onto me tighter.

The rest of the night, the boys and I celebrated the win, with my dad. It felt so nice that he got to meet my friends and boyfriend, and that he's okay and will always be here for me.

That night, because it was Friday, my dad let the boys sleepover, so we all went into the movie room, and watched Parental Guidance.

I fell asleep that night, knowing that my dad is okay, I was able to help win the championship, and I have the best friends and boyfriend I could ever ask for.

Sorry for the late update. Schools been a pain, and I help with volleyball so I'm busy sometimes after school. I'll try and update as quickly as I can, but comment ideas for future chapters.
