"I just don't understand what he was thinking by not kissing his girlfriend," Sara continued as she vigorously wiped her cheek to removed the lipstick on her face. "I also don't know why this won't come off! It's like he used a lip stain and now it's stained onto my cheek." It had slipped her mind that the crude drawing was still on her face since Amy was throwing a temper tantrum and her main priority was to get out of the house, of course not before she made sure that Aaron knew to lock the door when they left.
"He has said they've been arguing a lot lately. He's been telling me that he's unsure about him and Amy because of it, and it doesn't seem that they are compatible anymore or something like that, and knowing him he just wasn't thinking about the repercussions before he acted," Brett explained.
"I guess that is an explanation, but if that's true, he's dumber than he looks." Sara finally managed to get most of the drawing off her face with Avery's check of approval. "If I had my wallet we wouldn't have had to walk. I just didn't want to go back in there if I didn't have to."
"We'll look for your wallet later. Once the two love birds stop arguing," Taylor stated in obvious annoyance as she pulled her bag higher on her shoulder and started their walk down to the beach path. Her heart was still pounding at the fact that Aaron had kissed her, but she refused to let that show. Instead she showed her anger at the fact that she couldn't be with the guy she wanted. Everyone else just thought that she had an attitude with Aaron for kissing her and starting drama with Amy, but boy were they wrong. She truly didn't care about how Amy felt towards the subject. She was too jealous of Amy's relationship status with Aaron to be worried about her feelings. Instead she just tried to forget about her personal problems and think about how she was about to have fun with her friends at the beach.
Each of the girls had a bag ready for the beach since they had planned to come, suddenly thankful that Sara encouraged them to pack a beach bag the day before so they could grab it and go. Brett wasn't so lucky. He hadn't planned on coming along, so Sara had been forced to rummage through the storage closet to find some swimming trunks from her older brother's room, while Avery grabbed a towel from the linen closet. While they had gotten the stuff for Brett, they had left him outside with Taylor to try and avoid any more unnecessary drama.
Once the group had made it to a nice empty place to sit, Sara turned toward her best friend and asked, "Taylor, can you braid my hair please?" as she laid out her towel on the sand. Sara had grown up a hardcore tom-boy and because of that she didn't really care about fashion, make up, or hair. Luckily for her she had friends who did. Taylor was the one she went to for hair and make-up help, and since Taylor's style was a bit more showy than hers, she went to Avery if she needed help with an outfit choice. Taylor's crop tops, and high-waisted shorts she often wore were equal to Avery's comfortable shirts and well-fitting jeans. Obviously Sara would choose the outfit that she felt more comfortable in.
Taylor easily pulled Sara's blonde hair back into a neat french braid before they finished laying out their towels, setting up the umbrella, and went into the water. Brett wasn't in a huge rush to go into the water, claiming it was still too chilly for him, and instead decided to stay back and relax and keep an eye on the bags and blankets.
On their way to the water, Sara stopped to talk to one of the lifeguards. Chris had worked with Sara a few years ago; he had just started the job when she was working her last year. They kept up their friendship over the last three years, and every time they came to the beach Sara would make sure to bring him goldfish and a bottle of water. Because of that, he always requested to sit on the same beach just so that he could have her visit and bring him food.
The day was sunny, yet a nice breeze was present. The ocean looked welcoming and foamy as Taylor and Avery approached it, starting by just circling their toes in the shallow water before walking further in. The water was warm, but once it was high enough to reach their uncovered bellies all of the girls began to cring, including Sara who had joined them. Taylor shivered, her nautical belly piercing glinting in the sun for a moment before she dropped down into the waves and her action was mirrored by her friends. Unlike the other girls, Sara sank down until her head was under the water and then rose up again, flipping her hair out behind her.
