ashton wiped the sweat off his forehead, setting down the drumsticks.

"this song sounds so sick guys, this is great!" calum's grin was wide.

"yeah, it really is. and i have some cool news for you guys." luke smirked, twisting the cap off his water bottle and chugging it.

"yeah, then tell us!" michael yelled, shoving luke onto the couch. they all laughed, running and tackling him on the couch.

"alright, alright get off!" he laughed, shoving the rowdy boys off of him.

"well?" ashton asked, nervous as to what the news could be.

"well i sent our demo around, and a studio in la wants us to come record with them!" all of the boys started yelling in excitement, while ashton pulled out his phone and started walking away.

"man what are ya doin'? we're celebrating!" michael yelled at him, pulling him back towards the group.

"i've gotta tell kayla! she'll be so excited!" ashton grinned, only to be met by unpleasant looks.

"really mate? we might get a record deal and you're more concerned about telling a girl you've known for 3 days instead of celebrating with your bandmates?" luke made his way towards ashton, anger evident in his voice.

"leave him alone luke." calum said in disappointment, resting a hand on lukes' shoulder. calum guided luke out of the room.

"guys-" ashton started but michael interrupted him.

"don't, let him calm down." michael shook his head, running after the other two boys. "hey luke, wanna cuddle?" he yelled. ashton sighed, walking over to the couch and plopping on it. he reluctantly pulled out his phone to message kayla.

"is there any way you could be in la next week? xx"

ashton knew it was a long shot that she would be able to, but it was worth trying. he knew he wouldn't be able to get to michigan, he just didn't have the money, or time for that matter, to get there. he counted out the 14 hour time difference in his head, figuring it was 7am for her, so she should be awake. right on cue, his phone vibrated.

"um, very slim odds but i'll see what i can do. may i ask why? xx"

ashton quickly typed out his response.

"the bands going to a studio in la, might get a record deal. it's some cool shit happenin' and it would be even cooler to meet you xx"

ashton was scared that it might intimidate her, wanting to meet that soon. he would wait as long as he had to if it meant getting to kiss her at the end.

"omg that's so exciting ash! im so happy for you guys! i legit just screamed on the bus haha. but um i mean that would be totally amazing but i don't think that can happen right now, i have school and i really need to do good to get into college, y'know? but if you do get a deal, im sure there'll be plenty of opportunities for us i promise. but i gtg, school. ugh. but congrats!!!! xx"

ashton sighed, knowing she was right.

"yeah, ur right. have fun baby girl xx"

ashton locked his phone, got up and went to apologize to his best friends.
