She was the first woman in years who attracted Hisoka's attention that much. Until now, anyone who knew him was aware that he was interested in abilities, not people. Kusanagi, however, was doing more than attracting with power. For starters, he didn't even know what type of nen she possessed. During the two phases, he had seen so many sides of her. People would think it would be like a weakness for her, but actually, it was confusing his computing capabilities. He couldn't figure her out. The thing that attracted him, even more, was this strange feeling every time he approached her - a huge power inside this woman, and even more, there was a creature inside. So he was more than happy to see this challenging person in the cafeteria.

-Flashback-

"Until you learn how to dance with lightness and grace, you will stand on your feet and repeat!" The black-haired girl's mother screamed angrily and once more hit the child's legs with her right one. Shortly afterward she left the room and didn't return.

Three days passed and every maid started to worry. [Y/n] hadn't left the room ever since her mother left her alone, but they didn't dare to go in because of their mistress's words. However, their affection for the child was stronger, so they allowed themselves to break only this order. When five of them decided to enter the room, they realized how wrong they were for delaying their visit. The dark-haired girl just danced and hummed a tune. [The one from above.] Swollen legs, scratchy voice, traces of tears, empty eyes. The child hadn't stopped dancing for hours, no - for days. They rushed to the little figure and hugged her, holding her with tears in their eyes. That day, they didn't stop praising [Y/n], they didn't stop pampering her. And although they saw the young girl's smile as they closed the door, they heard the same melody that left her lips hours ago.

-Flashback-

Hisoka just stood and watched. Kusanagi had a drink in her hand, watching lifelessly while she was humming a melody. She had a wonderful voice but it was too tormented. It was as if someone manipulated her. He liked that face, but at the same time, hated.

He didn't mind saying her name at this moment. But he wasn't expecting to not get any reaction. She just stood there. She wasn't blinking, not moving, only her lips were parting. People would think for a moment that she was a doll if she didn't breathe or sing. Her name was spoken a few more times, but there was still no results. Finally, the red-haired man pushed her and she opened her eyes wide, returning their old energy.

"Hisoka? How long have you been here?"

"About 10 minutes.. ~"

The girl opened her eyes even more. "Why didn't you make a sign? There was no need to stand and watch me. Sometimes you're creepy."

"Actually, I've been saying your name a couple of times, but obviously humming was more important to you~"

The red-eyed lady narrowed her eyes slowly and lowered her tone. "What was the melody?"

Hisoka felt the change in her tone, so he just decided to demonstrate. Towards the end of his little performance, [Y/n] was looking at the table with dark eyes, her lips trembling slightly.

It drew his attention. There was something in that melody that made her look so miserable. He wanted to know what it was.

"I didn't know you had this amazing talent~"

"You don't have to know." With that Kusanagi stood up loud from her seat and headed for God knows where.

Trick Tower - the name of the place where the third phase was to be held. Netero left them on top and then they had to do the rest themselves without actually knowing what to do. Some of them decided it was good to go to the bottom from outside, but some creatures came from somewhere and killed them. This was definitely not the option. After a while, people started to disappear. Probably there were hidden doors. Kusanagi started to walk slowly and occasionally knock with her heels. On the seventh time, the floor beneath her opened and she fell into a small room. Seconds later, she was met by two familiar kids who were already embracing her.

"So you'll be with us!" Gon smiled happily and squeezed a little more than needed the dark-haired woman. But he didn't get an answer. He and Killua looked up, their breath stopped for a moment when they saw how empty her eyes were. Kurapika furrowed his eyebrows and approached the girl, waving his hand in front of her face. Her eyes shook, a few moments later their glow returned. Kusanagi suddenly smiled and ran her fingers in dark green and white hair.

"I'm glad I came across you guys!"

But said people could only keep their worry about themselves.

The examiner, who introduced himself under the name Lippo, explained the rules and immediately started to count the time they had.

"Would it be rude if I asked where did you come from? You have an unusual eye color." Kurapika cautiously chose his words and stared at the female figure's back in front of him.

"A rich family located in a very deserted area."

Gon went quickly to her and turned his head curiously to [Y/n]. "Why are you here? You must have people waiting for you there!"

Silly boy, she thought. "For starters, I abandoned this type of affection since long ago. Second, I don't have such people. In general, there are no people."

Killua didn't conceal the slight twitching of his eyes. "Sounds like there's nobody out there."

"It doesn't just sound, there IS nobody there. They are dead."

The mood darkened. Everything went silent, making Leorio uncomfortable. He cleansed several times his throat. "What's your reason for taking the exam?"

The black-haired woman put her thumb and forefinger around her chin and thought for a moment. "Entertainment? Most of all, to find friends. My life started getting pretty boring."

"Is that your motivation?" Kurapika dropped a surprised tone from his lips.

"I don't think it's an irrational reason."

They had to answer one more question to continue to their final destination. Alas, the red-eyed girl chose a different answer, surprisingly - the two doors opened. Nobody asked her why she chose something different. Everyone had their own opinion on the matter. But they were worried. They had a bad premonition that something would happen. Their paths separated. [Y/n] went in the opposite direction and Lippo didn't even suspect that. Because it wasn't his doing.

No one suspected that Kusanagi would not return.
