Ivy's POV

Why did he lie to me?  Caleb was in that trance again like in Athens!  Why would he lie to me then laugh it off?   Was he hiding something?  I would have to confront him at some point about this, but here and now didn’t seem right.  I’ll talk to him after we get settled on the boat later.  My mind raced with emotions as I tried to hide what I was thinking and enjoy the salad.

“Ok well don’t worry about the list, we can go through it together later.” I said.

“Yes sure that makes sense.”

We continued with small talk throughout the meal.   I calmed down a little and enjoyed the lamb gyros, which literally melted in my mouth it was so good.  After eating, we raced down the winding mountain roads back to Kos town.  We wanted to sort out the sailboat, unpack our bags then go out on the town later on.

Cruising through the palm tree lined cobb stone streets of Kos town we finally found our way back to the marina, getting ourselves lost a few times.  This was an adventure so getting lost off the beaten path was all part of the fun.

Handing in our scooters, Caleb worked out the details on the boat.  I sat in the marina lobby patiently reading my Greek myths book.  This was the first time I had a chance to pick it up since buying it yesterday in Athens.  After some time Caleb came over, we grabbed our bags and brought them to the sailboat.  It looked brand new from the outside, polished white fiberglass with mahogany wood accents and a tall white and deep blue sail rising from the deck.  I wasn’t a very good sailor, but Caleb had taught me the basics over the time we were together, so I could get by in an emergency.  This one was powered by an internal engine if needed, Caleb didn’t like using the engine, but it was great to have just in case.

“This is awesome Caleb, it looks spotless!

“Well, it’s the smallest one they have at 31 feet.  But it will suit us just fine.  Take a look inside and I will bring the bags down.”

“Sure.”

I stepped off the dock and climbed up onto the boat.  There was a center steering wheel with seat and two white vinyl cushioned seats on each side of the stern.  Walking past these I opened the perfectly polished wooden doors and descended into the cabin.  The interior was mainly all mahogany with white cotton cushions on the couches on each side.  The compact kitchen was on my right, bathroom door on my left at the bottom of the stairs.   There was good sized folding table in the middle of the couches.  Beyond that was the open door to the bedroom and queen sized bed.  Caleb followed me down the stairs and brought the bags into the bedroom.

“What do you think baby?” He said.

“I love it, you were right it’s just perfect.”

“Ok, let’s unpack and get washed up.”

We unpacked and Caleb washed up and went up to inspect the sailing gear and engine while it was still light.  After washing up, I laid down and snoozed on the bed for a while.   I felt the boat slowly rock up and down from the gentle waves in Kos Harbor. My mind wandered back to Caleb and these strange trances he kept experiencing.   He mentioned hearing music or something in Athens.  This had only started here, I never remembered him behaving this way in all our years together.  Caleb came down into the cabin again, laying down on the bed next to me.

“What are you doing baby?” He said.

“Just snoozing and thinking.”

“Thinking about?

“This and that, you know.”

“No I don’t, talk to me.”

“Well… I am really worried about these trances you have been having. First in Athens and then earlier today.”

“How’d you know I had it earlier?”

“I am not an idiot Caleb, you had that same look in your eyes as Athens.  To be honest I am pissed off with you that you lied to me about it.” I said glaring at him.

“Well I didn’t want to get you stressed out about it that’s all.”

“I am stressed out about it and you lying about didn’t help at all.” I said in my best sarcastic tone.

“Ok, Ok well if it happens again I will let you know straight away.  I promise.” He said looking into my eyes and giving me a kiss.

“Ok,have you ever had these before?  Hallucinations or whatever they are?”

“No. Not that I remember anyway.”

“What does it feel like?”  I ask.

“When I hear the signing and music, its draw me in.  I can’t focus on anything else.  It’s hypnotic I guess. I feel like I am being pulled toward the music and I dont dare look away.”

“Ok let’s hope it doesn’t happen again or we need you to see a doctor.”

“Agreed, if it happens again I’ll go talk to a doctor.” He said putting his back down on the pillow.

“Ok so we should probably get the supplies right?  Before the stores close?”

“Yes let’s do that and grab some dinner. I want to get an early start tomorrow.  I can't wait to get back out on the water.” Caleb said springing out of the bed.
