Trust Almost Lost

Tord's P.O.V

We continued out of the cave, soon we were outside. We each looked around for any clues of where the rest could be. Matt suggested that we split up, but that would've been the worst idea ever. After a while I had noticed footprints in the ground so I started to follow them without telling the rest, they ended up following me with no questions. When we made it to the end of the trail I heard yelling. I started to run towards the sounds almost leaving the rest behind, but they understood what they had to do so they followed after.

I stopped right before I almost fell down. Right in front of me was a huge ditch. It seemed to be too deep for me to even see inside of it. I heard some more yelling, from the way that the voices sounded, I could tell that it was the three girls. I looked over at the other three to see if they could help in any way. After a while of them just standing there, I got an idea. I looked into the ditch and then at Tom. I inched closer to the hole and purposely fell in.

As I was falling I was jolted back up as something wrapped around me. Tom's tail had caught me, just as I had planned. I looked down to see if I could see anyone, but it was too dark. Tom hauled me back up and held me tight in his grip. His whole body was covered in purple and black spots, he was a bit taller and his arms and legs were no longer human.

"Tom, I'm gonna need you to get the girls." I said. Tom shook his head and held on tighter to me. "It's either you go or I go with you." After that, Tom put me down and approached the ditch and jumped inside. I sat down and looked at the other two. Their faces once again looked petrified.

"Guys, he won't harm you, well . . . unless you seem like some kind of danger to me." Matt sat down next to me and Edd did the same. It took a few minutes, but after many minutes of waiting, Tom finally came out of the ditch with all three girls. They looked all bruised up and covered in dirt.

"How about we go to the houses before anything else happens to us, ok." I said as I turned away from the girls and started to walk away.

"But what about Matilda!" Ell yelled out with teary eyes."

"Uhm, look I'll tell you guys later ok, let's just get to the houses first. After a while of convincing, we actually got them to walk home with us. When we made it to the houses, I told the guys that I would go to the girls' house and let them know what happened.

I went into their house and walked up to them. "Ok. so um, what happened to uh . . . Matilda is um . . ." A random swift of air came at my neck and before I knew, Tamara had her harpoon pointing right at my neck.

"What did you do to her!" She yelled as she tightened her grip.

"Matilda is . . . no longer with us, that thing got to her before we could make it." I heard something metallic hit the ground. The harpoon was no longer pointing at my neck, it was on the ground and so was Tamara, she had her hands covering her eyes, but she was weeping silently. I looked over at the others with a sorrowful gaze. Ell had tears streaming down her face, she had an unbelievable look on her face, she had already lost two things that she loved in her life. Tori was turned away from the rest she was hiding her face but I could tell that she felt a bit sadness inside her.

"I'll just let myself out . . . sorry for your loss, I do feel the same way that you all feel about this." I approached the door but before I could leave, I felt a sharp pain at the back of my neck. Tamara was back up and she had her weapon back at my neck.

"What do you mean by you feel the same way, you're not showing any emotion at all, you're probably smiling on the inside!" Tamara yelled out, the harpoon started to shake.

I moved away from the weapon, turned around, and grabbed onto the handle. "You see Tamara," I said with tears in my eyes. "Assuming things doesn't always give you your answer, of course I care about Matilda, after all, I went to risk my life to save you all." Tears streamed down my face. "I'll just leave now." I opened the door.

"I'm sorry for saying that." Tamara said just before I left.
