Skai sat on her bed, zoning out of the moment. Her thoughts were scattered, heart was racing. Another knock on the door startled her.

"Here we go.." Skai said to herself.

She slowly made her way to the door. Her hand was shaking as she reached for the doorknob. Taking a deep, long, and slow breath.. She twisted the knob and opened the door.

There she was. Tyler was standing in front of her, smiling like nothing had ever happened. But damn, did Skai love that smile of hers. So perfect and beautiful. The way her eyes lit up once she saw Skai sent chills all down her body. The pain in her chest was making it hard for her to breathe..

"Skai? Can I, uh, come in or..?" Tyler interrupted her daze.

"Oh yeah, yeah, please. Come in.." She replied, starring Tyler down as she walked in.

She couldn't keep her eyes off of her, and couldn't help but wonder what the hell was going on. She was patiently waiting for Tyler to settle down and tell her what happened. Skai watched her every move, never taking her eyes off of Tyler.

Sitting on Skai's bed, Tyler said.. "Come here, sit down beside me. We have to talk."

"No kidding.." Skai replied under her breath. But she did as Tyler said and sat down beside her. Never has Skai been so scared to sit next to her own best friend.

"I'm really sorry for just up and leaving the other day. It was so wrong of me to do that.. And again, I'm so so so sorry." Tyler apologized, grabbing Skai's hands.

Skai's stomach suddenly felt empty as she felt Tyler touching her skin.

"It's... It's not okay, Tyler. Not only did you just 'up and leave' me in my room. But you left for a week. No explanation, no communication... a week Tyler! That was so much worse than you abandoning me in my room." Skai was getting angry. She felt herself fighting back her tears.

Tyler grew quiet. She was lost for words once she saw all the pain in Skai's eyes.

"Where did you go? Why did you leave? Why didn't you tell me? How could you do that to me?" Skai started questioning her.

"I didn't think it'd hurt you that bad.. I thought you'd be okay..."

Tears now falling from Skai's eyes.

"Do I look.." she tried to stop crying, "you know you can't just leave me. You can't. I'm not okay. I'm hurting. God, Tyler! Why?"

"Please stop crying.. Why are you so upset? I went to my grandmother's house.." Tyler tried touching her, but Skai moved away.

"That doesn't tell me why you left ME! Why you stopped! Why you didn't talk to me! Why you.."

Tyler cut her off.

"I left because I didn't want to hurt you! You're my best friend! And I love you! I couldn't hurt you like that!" Tyler yelled back at Skai. "I left because I panicked once I realized what I was doing. I had no where else to go, so I went to my grandmother's house to spend time and catch up with her."

"Hurt me..? Like what? From what you've told me, seems like you run away to your grandma's a lot. What were you running away from? You didn't want to hurt me, but you did." Skai wasn't as angry anymore, but trying to be understanding for Tyler.

"Feelings.. I was running away from feelings." Tyler let out like she was holding it in forever. She said the words so fast, like she was ready to get it over with. She broke the state between Skai by looking at her hands, fidgeting them.

It was silent for at least five minutes before Skai saw a year rolling down Tyler's cheek.

Scooting closer to her, Skai slowly wrapped her arms around Tyler. "Listen to me, it is alright. I promise. But next time, don't run away from anything. Me, or your feelings. Stay, right here, with me, in my arms.." She said comforting her. "Don't leave again, please.."

Tyler looked into Skai's eyes, "never again."
