Chapter 212
Rowan's Point of View
"This is the best chicken sandwich I've ever eaten!" Trinity mumbled between chewing, a smidge of Mayo rested on her upper lip. Lena and I both laughed. "I've never been to this place before. We don't have one this across the pond." She wiped her mouth with a napkin and dug into her waffle fries.
I saw so much of Jax in Trinity. They had the same eyes and nose. Trinity's hair was strawberry blonde and Jax had hints of that in his beard.
Chick-Fi-La wasn't packed right now so we pretty much had the run of the place. Trinity and and I found a table by the windows that overlooked the parking lot and got cozy with Rae and Abel. Lena and Leo showed up a bit later; Kenny and Ellie were still at school for the day so it was just us girls, plus three littles.
Leo was asleep in his car seat by Lena's feet. I gazed at him. His brown hair and chubby cheeks were adorable. I wanted another baby, but not for a while. Everything with Jax and the kids and my job was great right now. I didn't think after my mom passed away I could ever feel happy again, but I do right now. Part of me keeps waiting for the other shoe to drop. I don't want to get comfortable feeling this good. When you relax and let your guard down that's when shit happens. Was I being paranoid? Yes.
I glanced down at the bruise on my arm where I've periodically been pinching myself to make sure this is all real and not some twisted dream.
"You've got baby fever!" Lena kicked me under the table and laughed.
"No! I don't. I just like looking at little Leo!" I stuck my tongue out at her.
Rae was sitting in a high chair beside me, mostly making a mess with her waffle fries. She had honey mustard all over her cheeks. I smiled and wiped her face with a napkin. Of course she whined the whole time. "You love to be messy! My little dirt ball."
Abel was sitting on his knees next to me in his chair going to town on his chicken nuggets and playing with his plastic dinosaurs.
"So, did you ever find yourself a biker?" Lena asked Trinity.
"Aye, I did, but it didn't last. Ma didn't like him and that was that." Trinity shrugged then dipped her lemonade. "Avery was pretty hot though."
Lena grinned. "I would totally swallow his babies if ya know what I mean." Trinity busted out laughing and I stared at Lena wide eyed, trying not to laugh. I tossed a balled up napkin at her and gestured to the kids, they were oblivious and too young to catch the blow job reference but still. "I mean if I didn't have Opie, geez!" She chewed on her straw and laughed.
Lena's phone vibrated on the table and she turned it over. She sighed and rolled her eyes, turning it back over on the table. "Your mom?" I asked, popping one of Abel's fries into my mouth.
"The one and only." Lena muttered. "She keeps messaging me about seeing Leo and I'm like, "You couldn't even be there when he was born, you're not seeing him all strung out now," and she's pissed off."
"I'm sorry." I sighed, squeezing her hand.
Lena had really wanted her mom to be there when she delivered Leo, but she never showed. I'd even had one of the prospects try and hunt her down, but no luck. I'd been there for her through the the entire process. Her delivery was a lot smoother than when I had Rae.
"So when are you and the mountain man getting hitched?" Trinity asked Lena.
She smiled and bit her lip. "We're getting married soon. Vegas wedding, baby!"
