Chapter 247
Jax's Point of View
Smoke billowed from the grill as Deacon opened the metal lid. The smoke disappeared as he waved it away with the dish towel in his hand and took the tongs in his other hand and flipped the steaks.
"Dadee, bite, please!" Rae gave me a half toothy smile, sitting next to me at the patio table. She could feed herself pretty well but I wanted to help her. I missed so many of these moments when I was in Stockton, I was still trying to make up for time lost.
I smirked and scooped some Mac and cheese on her spoon and zipped it to her mouth.
She happily chewed away as I checked on Abel sitting on the other side of me. "You doing okay, buddy? You want something to drink?" Abel nodded, continuing to chow down.
"Hey, keep an eye on them. Make sure they don't go near the pool." I told Avery. He nodded and nursed the beer in his hand. He hasn't spoken but a 'hello' to Deacon since he stepped out back.
This was gonna be a long ass night.
Before I walked in the house I paused and looked at Deacon remembering Rowan's request to be helpful. I was gonna throw Avery a very big bone and hope he went with it. "Hey, man, did you catch Overeem vs. Harris last night?"
Deacon grinned, making a fist. "Hell of a fight."
Avery perked up glancing between the two of us. "You into UFC? Did you catch the pre-show weigh in? Harris was a fucking beast man."
Deacon left his post at the grill and took a seat at the table and began directing the two heavy weight fighters with Avery.
I walked through the open back door into the kitchen and grabbed two juice boxes from the fridge and sidled up next to Rowan at the counter so I could open them and stick the straws in. Rowan glanced at me as she mashed potatoes in a bowl with a hand masher. "How's it going out there?"
"They said 'hello' which you witnessed, other then you saying Avery works at Navy Street and is your friend, it's been quiet." I filled her in, rubbing her back gently. I could tell she was stressing big time over tonight and honestly couldn't blame her but this wasn't all on her. Avery needed to make the effort.
Rowan glared at me, pausing mid potato mash. "You have to help Avery until I get out there!"
"What do you want me to do? Hold his hand?" I teased, kissing her cheek. "He's fine. Trust me."
"You know what I mean." Rowan rolled her eyes and shook her head. "You know how to be charming and make things less awkward."
Finished with the mashed potatoes Rowan moved them over to the counter by the door so they could be carried out back to the table. She flitted back to the cupboard and stood on her tip toes trying to reach a pan on the top shelf. My eyes fell to her breasts. They already looked like they were gonna pop out of the dress she had on and reaching up had pushed her chest out even more, enhancing the view.
"Hey, can you stop ogling me for ten seconds and grab that pie dish, please?" I smirked, caught.
Rowan sunk her teeth into her bottom lip as I moved behind her and grabbed the pie dish for her. I sat it on the counter in front of her. Unable not to I bit her earlobe and pressed myself against her back, already feeling my dick swelling against the fabric of my jeans. "I've got a hot wife. I'm allowed to enjoy the view, aren't I?"
"Mhmm..." she mumbled, shooting me a smile over her shoulder. I captured her lips with my own quickly, wanting so much more, but she pulled a way and spun around shooing me away. "Get back out there! Go!" She handed me the kids' juice boxes and shooed me out the door.
