kiara - saturday night

i feel like i'm about to puke, my hand claps over my mouth and i run outside, not able to find a bathroom inside. i make it only a few steps before i topple over, vomit spewing all over the grass.

"you're drunk?" grayson asks from behind me.

"no shit, sherlock," i say wiping my mouth with the back of my hand.

the bubbles rise in my throat again and i bend over, my hands on my knees. one of grayson's hands latches onto all of my hair and holds it back.

"god, how much did you drink?" he asks as i stand up, tucking my hair behind my ear.

"not enough," i say seriously and start walking towards tana's car.

  "where are you going?"

  i shrug my shoulders. "home."

"let me take you," he says catching up to me and certainly taking me off guard.

i'm quick to shut him down. "no thank you."

"kiara, i'm taking you home and it's not an option. you're drunk as fuck right now," he says grabbing my arm, making me stop walking.

he holds my hand and leads me to his car, opening the door for me as i plop in. he laughs at my laziness and shuts the door for me, walking to the other side and getting in.

"don't take me home," i say sobering up a little. "take me to the park."

"no, you're drunk and unstable, i'm taking you home," he says stopping at a stop sign.

i groan and put my head in my hands, rubbing my face. "shit..."

"we're here," grayson says after an unbearable silence that lasted for minutes.

i lift my head from the window and immediately my eyes latch onto the black cadillac sitting in the driveway.

"fuck," i mumble, grayson looking over in my direction.

"is that your dad's?" he asks hesitating on getting out.

"yeah, thanks for the ride, i'll see you later," i answer quickly, getting out of the car wobbling and swaying my way up to the front door.

i shut the door and walk in as quietly as i can past my father's office.

"kiara? is that you?" his deep voice booms as his head peeks out of his office.

"uh, h-hey dad," i stumble on my words, as my eyes beg to close.

"are you drunk, kiara?" he asks, his voice becoming more stern than before.

"no, no, i'm fine," i manage to croak out.

"kiara rose, you know better than this! i raised you better than this! what the hell is going on with you?" his voice grows louder with each word, piercing my ears and making my head pound.

"shut up, dad, i'm fine!" i shout cupping my ears with my hands.

"don't you dare raise your voice at me, young lady," he says getting closer and pointing his finger at me.

"yes because you raised me so well," i snap my fingers, making air quotes around the word you. "i can't believe you, sometimes."

the next thing i feel hurts worse than i thought it would. i stumble back, holding my cheek with my hand, the stinging intensifying as if it just happened.

instantly my father's eyes fill with guilt. "kiara."

"no. shut the fuck up and leave me alone," i say my voice breaking as i run up to my room and grab my car keys before sliding a large sweatshirt over my thin long sleeve.

i run back down and my father is standing in the same spot, his head in his hands. "where do you think you're going?"

"i don't fucking know but as far away as i can get from you," i say before slamming the front door, my head hung low.

my fingers delicately caress my hot cheek, probably red from how hard he slapped me. a few tears spill from my eyes and i lift my head up about to blink them away when i'm blinded by headlights.

fuck. what the hell is he still doing here?

i turn around and face the opposite direction. his car door opens and then shuts as he walks over to me. his hand lands on my shoulder and i flinch away. his built figure comes into view and i lower my eyes.

"what the hell happened?" he says lifting my chin up with his fingers.

i shake my head away. "nothing grayson, don't worry about it."

"no, something's wrong and you're going to tell me," he says grabbing my hand and forcefully pulling me to his
car.

we both sit in the car, silence resting upon us. i slide my keys into my front sweatshirt pocket and then grayson speaks up.

"i heard the yelling," he mumbles his hand reaching for the gear shifter.

i stay quiet not daring to talk.

he places his hand on my thigh. "kiara, what happened?"

i sigh and wipe away the hot tear that decided to roll down my cheek. "not here."

and with that he pulls out of my driveway, heading towards the park.
