The voices taunted her as she laid in the double bed by herself. She woke up with a start, having thought she heard someone in the room. But then when she felt the buzz of the activity in her head, she realised she hadn't heard anyone but her mind.
She clutched at her head. "Shut up." She muttered quietly. The buzz became louder. "Shut up." She repeated louder but it still continued and was louder. "Shut up!" She yelled. She was curled with her knees to her chest, tugging at her hair trying to get her head to quieten.
Namjoon burst into the room, hair messy which was evident of sleep. His eyes barely open.
"Are you okay?" His eyes softened when he looked over at her.
"It won't shut up." She whimpered. "I can't even make sense of what it's saying but it's so loud. I'll be fine, just go back to sleep-"
Namjoon sat on the opposite side of the bed and pulled her close to him. Her entire body relaxing with his touch and he slouched slightly so she was still laying down, and he rested her head on his chest.
"I'm here, just focus on me." He spoke softly. "If you focus on me you won't hear it." He didn't know if it worked like that, but it would be worth a try.
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, feeling his entire presence as she laid there, ear pressed to his chest with an arm slung across his middle. She sighed quietly when her mind quietened.
"I'm sorry for waking you." She spoke softly.
"It's okay." He ran a hand through her hair and noticed the small smile that tugged on her lips. "I'd rather make sure that you were okay."
She smiled softly at this. "Namjoon?" She spoke even softer. He melted st how gentle she sounded. "Can... can you stay here with me? Everything disappears when you're around."
He felt the shock of this run through him. "Of course, but won't you feel strange sleeping in a bed with me?"
"No." She mumbled and he could tell she was fighting against sleep. "Not if it's you."
