Soran was heading to the elevator. His rage was still within him, but he was managing to keep it at bay. The 60th floor of the Corporation HQ was not the place for him to lose it. Even with the inhibitor screaming in his head and his chest burning he could still cause a lot of damage not only to the building, but all of the people in it.

Draz had shouted after Soran to come back and he heard Day mutter something about ‘a disgrace’ as Soran had stormed out. He didn’t need anyone in his life telling him how wrong he was. Soran had lived his life without the need for a father figure, and the last thing he needed was an old man pointing out his fates. Soran had no parents.

As Soran approached the elevator shaft its doors opened, revealing Lady Kisa. Soran stopped suddenly.

“Oh, hello Soran” She said with a smile, which Soran did not reciprocate. This woman was an enigma: she said that she was related to Master Kisa and yet they appeared to be from different subsections of Skry heritage. Master Kisa had a more beige skin tone, his eyes were narrow, calculating and kind. Rosline on the other hand had pale skin, dark hair and large eye that were currently looking at Soran with keen interest.

“It didn’t go well, did it?” She asked with sympathy.

“You trouble me” Soran stated back, rudely ignoring her question.

“I’m sorry?” She replied. She was keeping her cool at receiving Soran’s misplaced frustration.

“Master Kisa never told me of family, of you. How exactly are you related? You look nothing alike, and I find that troubling”. The elevator door closed behind Rosaline as she smiled a little to herself.

“I can see your point” She said. “Hatori and I share the same great grandparents. As you undoubtedly know bloodline and heritage are highly important to the Skry thanks to...”

“Specific Genetic Memory. I know” Soran interrupted. Rosaline tilted her head and gave a slightly condescending smile, which was certainly restrained when met with Soran’s tone.

“Well then you know that due to that fact Hatori and I also share the same knowledge and abilities passed down through the Kisa name. His branch of the family married into another bloodline of a different class compared to my parents and grandparents. The other bloodline that I have descended from is actually more ancient than even the Kisa bloodline, meaning that I may be of some use to you”.

“Use to me?” Soran asked with his eyebrows high in disbelief. “How so?”

“I assume Kisa told you of the differences between Skry and Humanity, and some details about how Arcane powers work?” Soran nodded. “How would you like to find out where they come from?” Rosaline looked deep into Soran’s eyes and could see the thirst for this knowledge that he had. She nodded without him saying a word.

“I have a neural simulator in my office. All you need to do is place it on your forehead and allow me to show you the history of both of your races. I’m sure you would like to know where both the Skry and Humans came from, wouldn’t you?”

As Soran walked away with Rosline Natasha was descending one of the glass elevators trying to track down where her husband had gone. He wasn’t even looking for her, and now he was walking away with that strange Skry woman?

The elevator doors opened onto the floor that they were on as Natasha watched them walk into a stairwell. She didn’t try to run after them, she remained in the elevator as the doors slid together again - wondering if her husband still actually loved her.
