noahI waited nervously outside exactly two houses away from Dawn's house. My new car, which was small but capable, was trundling next to me on the curb. She was due to meet me here in approximately five minutes. I hadn't questioned her why I wasn't allowed to meet her at her house, but I was guessing it was because her mum wouldn't approve- either of having a boyfriend or having me as a boyfriend.
Either way, it was kind of sad that I was forced to wait and lean against my car. Though if the rest of the day proved to be nice, then I wouldn't be complaining.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry, mum held me back!"
I turned, just as Dawn appeared, walking towards me.
She wore leather sandals, with an off-the-shoulder dress that was light blue and white and came a bit above the knees, and sunglasses that were currently sitting on her hair, which was out. The sunlight made it look soft and shiny, and the light breeze blew it off her shoulders. Her legs were long and tanned, each step precise and confident. A shoulder bag hung on her right shoulder, which was brown.
Okay, I'll admit that I was staring quite a bit.
"You look nice," I complimented once she reached me.
Watching the blush creep over her cheeks was somehow satisfying.
"Thank you," she replied, running an eye over me. I watched her sparkling green eyes widen slightly as she caught sight of my shirt, which was blue, like her dress, and buttoned up. I was guessing it was because I'd left the first three buttons undone, revealing the top of my chest. I had white shorts on, and flip-flops.
"Did you somehow know what I was wearing and tried to match?" I joked as I went to open the car door.
"No," she protested, laughing a little, then paused as she saw the new car.
"Is this your...?"
"Yeah, it's new."
"Wow. Nice," she inspected it, then reached out to open the car door too, just as my hand touched it.
The feel of her small hand under mine made a warm rush travel up my arm.
"Sorry," she said quickly, removing her hand. The feeling drained away.
"It's fine," I muttered, pulling the door open for her.
Smiling at me, she got in and let me close the door for her. I headed round the side of the car and slide into the driver's seat.
As we pulled our seat belts on, I warned her to watch out for any bad driving habits. "The ride's gonna be pretty jerky," I told her, smiling a little sheepishly.
"Go for it," she replied, grinning, and put her sunglasses on.

Dawn
I'll admit I was staring a tad bit when he came into view. His outfit was almost carelessly put together, but so well that he looked like a model. And I wasn't exaggerating. I was pretty sure over half the girls at school thought the same way.
"How long 'till we get to the beach?" I asked, looking out the window at the people and cars rushing past.
"Not too long," he replied. "We'll be there in twenty minutes from now."
"Oh okay."
Now it got awkward as hell.
After sitting in silence for about five minutes, Noah asked me to turn on his bluetooth so we could listen to his music.
