a call and a room.

You stare at the number on your phone. It was a Saturday night and you were finally taking a rest from the busy week. You had exchanged numbers before he left that night, almost 3 days ago now. Why hasn't he called yet? Is he waiting for me to call? Should I call? Maybe a text? Arghh I hate myself!!!

Thud!

A loud noise coming from your mother's room interrupts you. You jump to your feet, "Mom?" Thud! "Mom!" you run to her door and something tells you before you reach it that it's locked. No surprise there, it was in fact locked. You bang on the door, "Mom! Open the door!!" Thud! "What are you doing?? Mom please open the door!" You try running at the door, shoulder first. The power of the impact sends you flying back, and your shoulder feels like it was ripped off your torso. You were lost, you had no idea what to do. What was she doing? What's that noise?? You don't think twice before dialing the number you've been staring at for the past hour.

One ring. Two rings.

"Y/n! Hey, what's up? I was going to - " you could hear the excitement in his voice. Something clearly missing in yours right now, "Help," you choke, "My mom...please help me." Even though you barely understand the word leaving your own mouth, he doesn't hesitate to reply at once.

"I'm on my way."

You keep trying to talk to your mother, who replies with angry thuds. At least she's making some response, which was more than you could ask for.

By the time he gets there, your shoulder has swollen to twice its size, taking on a pale blue color. He moves you to aside, and kicks the door in. You're not even surprised when it opens in one go, what would you expect from someone with such a masculine body? You rush in after him. Your mother had a big black shoe, one that you recognize as your father's, and she was banging it against the wall. Jungkook helps her up, and exactly like the day at the grave she doesn't resist one bit, just stares at him with wide eyes. You run to her and look all over her, she was not hurt, she was safe; you can breathe again.

"I'll take that," Jungkook takes away the shoe with a smile. And to your surprise she talks to him, "Are you here for my daughter?" You hold your breath. She remembers. She knows she has a daughter. This was a first. Jungkook slowly eyes you, before smiling at her again. "I'm a friend, I was just visiting her."

"Are you going to take her away from me?" Tears sting your eyes, your shoulder was still numb but the only thing that mattered right now was that your mother was aware of your existence.

"No, I would never do that to you. I know how much she means to you, right?" Jungkook was pushing her for words now, he could see the effect this was having on you.

"Yes," she nods, "Yeah. You know how much she means to me. She's all I got." With that she slowly turns around to you, her eyes shooting out love. You want to hug her, tell her you won't leave her. But somehow you're too afraid to move, it feels like if you even blinked this whole mirage in front of you would come collapsing to the floor. You were desperately hanging on to her words, carving them into your mind, into your soul. After all these years, if this is how your mother shows her love, you'd take it. You'd take it on any day.

And just like that her eyes fade away, brows narrowing in confusion, "Who are you?"
