Leon has to be alive. Those gunshots had to be his. But then again, I forget about his old friend Ada, who I met in Salazar's maze. Because I saw that Ada also has a handgun,  it is hard to distinct her shots from Leon's.

"Well well well. What do we have here? Ms. Jackson's lost her way, it seems." A familiar Spanish voice stops me from running any farther.

I turn around, seeing Salazar and his bodyguard standing behind him with Ashley. Her hands are tired back, and tears are running down her cheeks.

"You left me," cries Ashley. "Why?"

I ignore her and turn to Salazar. "Let her go. If you even scratch her I'll break your bones!"

He cackles and I snarl at him, baring my hungry fangs. "You're a crazy one, Leonor. You should come join us. Be with us. We could always use an extra hand to help kill Mr. Kennedy," he says.

"You sick bastard!" I shout. "Where's Leon?!"

Instead of answering me, his guard steps forward and lifts me up by my neck. I swing my legs, trying to get free. His grip on my neck is very strong, and it's like he completely cut off my air circulation. He then throws me to the ground and I cough loudly and harshly, trying to catch my breath and supply my lungs.

"It seems that you haven't been given our gift. Lord Saddler never..." Salazar says. He pauses, then gasps.

Before I know it, I am lifted into the air and slung over Salazar's bodyguard's shoulder. I watch as the ground below me begins to move, and I give up on trying to escape.

The ritual Salazar kept blabbing about was done and over with quickly, which I am gladly grateful for. Salazar had two of his men bring Ashley and I to an island, where they trapped us in an isolated secret room with two armed men that guarded the door.

"This is just flat out ridiculous. God, now I hate Spain." Ashley mutters.

"Have you been here before?" I ask her.

She nods her head. "Yeah, with my dad. We went to Madrid, however, to visit my aunt."

"I've never been out of the states. Spain is the only other country I've been too." I say, titling my head back so it rests on the wall while my back also lies against the wall.

"Not even Canada or Mexico? I guess you're not the traveling type, huh?"

I nod. "I prefer reading about them. I'm not good with new environments."

Out of nowhere, I suddenly hear a howl in my ears. Where the hell is that coming from? I didn't know that there are wolves in Spain. But then again, Ashley doesn't seem concerned about it. Did she hear the howling? I guess it doesn't matter anyway. I remind myself that there's nothing to be afraid of. We're just going to find Leon and get the hell out of this place...I hope. I beg God to keep Leon alive. I need him alive to get home. My mother is probably worried sick about me. Perhaps Jillie gave up and told my mom what really is going on.
