I land on my feet with ease as I slide back. Man, that bug sure has strong limbs. I blast it with three strong shotgun shells to kill it.

"That's the last of 'em." " I mumble. I turn back to Leon, who sits against the wall, holding his shoulder in pain. One of the insects had thrown him against the wall so hard that his collar bone broke.

I twist my shotgun strap around my shoulder and I make sure the shotgun is sitting safely on my back. I grab Leon's good arm and pull it over my shoulder. Using all of my strength, I help him off of the gorund and we follow the bridge's path to a huge door.

Salazar's voice explodes like a grenade in my ears. "Mr. Kennedy, Ms. Jackson. Don't you know when it's time to throw in the towel?"

"Just...leave us the hell alone, Salazar!" I snap irritably, my voice raising as I speak.

He chuckles. "Oh please. I can't leave you alone until you hand over Ashley. She is a huge part of our plan."

Just then, I notice a square shaped outline around Leon and I. I gasp, and Leon suddenly pushes me off of the outline like he knows what it is. I begin to realize that it is a trap door, and the floor beneath Leon disappears. My arm outstretches, reaching for him, but I know it's too late to get to him now.

"Hmm...where's the satisfying sound of one's impalement?"

A scream beneath our feet startles me, and I look over the edge. The scream is of utter pain and fear. What if Leon has been killed? I sigh, wondering if Leon is okay. He's suddenly all I can think about and all I care about.

I turn to look at Salazar, hot tears rushing down my face. "You bastard! I've had enough of you!"

As I get up and attempt to attack him, a sweet, gentle voice stops me in my tracks.

"Leonor! I'm okay, baby girl. I'll be right...by your side, soon. I love you, sweetheart," Leon says.

"I love you too, Leon. Just...don't die on me." I say to him.
