Leon has finally found us. His shoulder has been taken care of, suspiciously, and I examine it every few minutes to make sure that the bandages are still where they need to be. I wouldn't be surprised if somehow he took care of himself and cleaned his shoulder. Leon is strong-- there's no doubt about it.

After taking down zombies with the La Plaga that Leon told me about, we come across the edge of a garbage chute. It reeks of dead flesh, but I try to withstand the horrid stench.

"Ugh," says Ashley, holding her nose. "It stinks."

Leon scoffs. "Sure does, but it looks like this is it."

I turn to Leon as he glares at me and Ashley with a grin. I immediately know what he is thinking. He wants to jump down there, hoping that it's our only hope to get out of here.

I shake my head, backing away. "Oh, hell no, Leon. You have a broken collar bone. Are you that stupid?!"

"I think you forgot something, Leonor." Leon says, shaking a finger at me.

He's right. I am forgetting something. All this time I've forgot that he is a werewolf, as am I. If he shifts into his wolf form, then he won't have any injuries because he got hurt as a human, not as a wolf. Damn, even I couldn't have thought of that.

As if he is reading my mind, Leon says, "Our powers can be complicated, yes. But we need to learn how to use them to our advantage."

"What the hell are you talking about?" Ashley asks.

Instead of answering her, Leon shifts into wolf form and roars. He shakes his furry body, which startles Ashley. She begins to back away, but Leon encourages her not to be afraid, as I know he won't hurt her.

Leon's fur seems as though it is made of silk. It looks freshly washed and brushed. Blood stains his lower lip and paws, so I know he has been in this form not too long ago. Maybe he was the one howling.

He has sock like patterns on his legs, and they reach up to his shoulders. The color of his fur is a light brown with dark shading here and there. The backs of his ears and around his eyes are a darker brown. I am the first to pet him. His soft fur feels like Chinese silk, and I stroke his neck with gently and smooth care.

"Can...can we just get moving? I don't want to see you like this for much longer. It's staring to freak me out." Ashley says quickly, encouraging us to get our asses down there.

I take Ashley's hand and together we jump down the chute, followed by Leon. We land hard on the garbage, and we are very lucky that there is no glass shards in the bags. When I go to help Ashley up, I notice that she isn't lying on garbage bags. As tall, scrawny creature lies there. It seems to have very slimy skin and spikes.

"What is this?" Ashley ponders in disgust, staring at the creature.

Leon rushes over in human form and helps Ashley himself, as if he knows what kind of creature that is. He winces when he uses his arm to help her up and I suddenly feel bad.

"Here," I interject, taking Ashley's hand from him. "You just need to take it easy, Leon. I can handle any hostiles.

"But you can't handle that creature!" He protests. "I killed one like it before, and I can do it again. You and Ashley just need to stay back."

I give him a kiss for good luck and I hide Ashley in an empty metal box. As I help Leon kill the strange creature that has arisen from the garbage piles, I notice that Leon isn't having any trouble using his bad arm to use a sniper rifle. Could his powers be helping him?

There's no time for questions now. Just kill that thing! The inner voice inside of my head shouts.

Every shot that blows into the creature's skin doesn't even seem to hurt it. In fact, the flesh seems to sew the bullet hole back together, like nothing ever happened to the creature's skin. I am amazed at this creature's power, and now I know that nothing can stop it.

But my assumptions are wrong. Leon makes careful shots in the creature's body, and it soon lies dead on the ground. How the hell did he manage to kill that thing? Let alone keep it away from us.

He cries out in sudden pain and falls to the ground. I immediatley rush over to him and sit on my knees, ready to help him. His breathing becomes heavier by the second, and I take his pulse. It has become a lot faster than normal.

"Baby, tell me what's wrong. Please!" I demand.

He looks at me, his face full of pain, worry, and devastation. "I can't go any further, Leonor. Leave me here. You're better off getting Ashley home than I am right now. I'm too...weak."

"Yes, you can! You just have to believe in yourself. Come on, I'll help you up." I assure him.

As his breathing slows suddenly, his eyelids cover his eyes completely. Is he falling asleep? No, he couldn't be. He's falling unconscious, I realize. His head falls on my lap and I pull his body closer to me. My fingers become tangled in his hair as my tears drop from my eyes.

"Is is safe to come out now?" Ashley asks, her voice muffled by the metal box.

"Yeah, I suppose so. The creature's dead." I answer, trying to hide my tears.

The metal box opens and Ashley pops out. She makes her way over to me and sits down. "Is he dead?" she asks.

I shake my head. "I sure hope not. He's still got a pulse, but it's not all that safe for anyone to make assumptions at a time and place like this. False assumptions lead to disaster, and we can't have that."

"Do you think he'll be alright?"

I shrug one shoulder. "Anything could happen to him, Ashley. But I'm sure he'll be okay. We just have to make sure of that."

I stand up and Ashley does, too. She looks as if she's ready to help me in anything I need from her. But I already know that I will barely need her help. I pick up Leon bridal-style and make sure that I don't hurt his shoulder. Lucky for him, his wound is on the other side of him so it isn't touching my body.

As we walk, I watch my boyfriend sleep in my arms. I can't believe I can actually carry him like this. The powers that Luis talked about must be getting stronger.
