The retina scan gladly accepts the village cheif's eye. We enter the door and a pathway leads slightly uphill and some villagers lie dead ahead in our path. I use my rifle to kill them perfectly from a distance, and a car starts up and begins driving toward us. It takes two strong rifle shots to kill the driver, and we run past the crashed car. We approach a bridge, and the villagers, tons of them, begin making their way to us with flaming torches and pitchforks. There's about twenty or thirty of them, so Leon waves a hand to catch mine and Ashley's attention.
"On the other side of the bridge! Come on!" He shouts over the running footsteps and shouting of the villagers.
Ashley and I follow him across the bridge. There are two cranks on either side and Leon and I use them to raise the bridge so the villagers can't get us. When we can't turn the crank anymore, we run away from the angry shouts of the villagers. Fools.
Hunnigan calls just as Leon, Ashley and I are walking up stairs. "Leon, what's your current location?" she asks.
"We decided to lay low in a castle, but it looks like that was a bad move," answers Leon, scratching his head.
"Meaning?"
"Well it appears that this castle's also connected with the Los Illuminados. They must not get many visitors here, 'cause they're giving us one hell of a welcome." He explains.
She pauses for a moment, like she's thinking. She adjusts her glasses and declares, "I have an idea, Leon. I need you to-"
Suddenly her voice is replaced with white noise and static, and her picture is gone. White noise fills the air as my stomach turns. Our support is gone.
"Repeat, Hunnigan!" I order. Nothing.
"Great," mumbles Leon, "just our luck." He puts the radio back on his belt and we make our way inside the castle. Luis approaches us just before we go inside the huge structure.
"Leon! Leonor! I got something for you guys!" He calls. As he searches his pockets, his smile droops down into a frown. "Uh...What?! I must've dropped it when I was running away from them!"
"Dropped what?" Ashley chimes in. Man, I haven't heard her talk in forever.
"A drug that will stop your convulsions. Listen, I know you are carriers. You've been coughing up blood, right?" Luis answers.
Leon seems hesitant to reply. "Yeah," he says softly, nodding.
Luis turns to Ashley, and she nods. He then turns to me, and I shake my head in confusion. "I haven't been coughing up anything. Why? Is there some kind of parasite going around?"
Leon takes my shoulders and turns my body so I faced him. "Remember after we killed the river monster back in the village, that I coughed up blood and fell unconscious for a bit? And when we met Luis for the first time?" I nod, and he continues, "Well, before you woke up, I remember something going into my neck. A parasite, as Saddler had said when we rescued Ashley. He also had said that he gave us the same gift."
"But I never coughed up blood," I protest.
Luis walks up to me and holds my face. He begins to look into my eyes, and I grab his wrist, suddenly wanting him to let go. He then lets me go a moment later and turns to Leon. "She's a hybrid, isn't she?" He asks him.
Leon nods. "My friend said that she was showing signs of a hybrid. She still is. How'd you know?"
"I'm just like you. A werewolf, mi amigo." Luis answers, putting his hands on his hips.
"Are you saying that I'm a werewolf, too?" I butt in.
Luis turns to me. "Probably." He turns to Leon and says to him, "I need you to look after her. Make note of any unusual behavior that she's never done before. It'll help you conclude if she is a hybrid or not. Oh, and also make note of what she's been eating."
As Luis begins to walk away, Leon asks, "Why are you..."
Luis answers, waving a hand back at us, "It makes me feel better. Let's just leave it at that."
Leon, Ashley, and I enter the castle. The ceiling is huge, and seems a thousand feet away. Pillars and arches hold the ceiling up. There is a carpet runner that leads up a small staircase. Above, there is a balcony with blue curtains tied back on either side of the arch.
Cackling echoes throughout the empty room. We walk up the seven steps and a short man with a blue pirate hat and an old English outfit walks onto the balcony with two hooded guards behind him.
"I was starting to wonder when you might notice us," he says slowly, resting his palms on the railing of the balcony.
"Who are you?" Leon asks in the same tone when we met Saddler.
"Me llamo Ramon Salazar, the eighth castellan of this magnificent architecture. I have been honored with the prodigious power from the great Lord Saddler. I've been expecting you, my bretherens."
"No thanks, bro!" Leon snaps, emphasizing "bro."
Salazar chuckles. "My, my. We've got a feisty one. If you care for your own well-being, I suggest you surrender yourselves and simply...become our hostage. Or, Mr. Scott and Ms. Jackson, you can give us the girl because you're not worth a penny, I'm afraid. You can die."
Salazar leaves without saying another word, which pisses me off. I ball my fist and growl, wanting to jump up there and attack Salazar. But Leon stops me from making a move by giving me a glare.
Ashley looks at Leon and protests, "I'm never turning into one of them. Never!"
Leon scoffs. "Got that right. We'll find a cure."

A dead end awaits our presence in the observation hall. As we walk, Ashley's coughs are all I can pay attention to. I could smell her blood that stains her hands. She stares at it in fear, and Leon's attention is also on her.
"You all right?" Leon asks calmly.
Ashley pushes him away and shouts, "I'm fine! Leave me alone!"
She runs away, causing spikes to flash up from the ground. She runs to the back wall as the spikes follow, trying to kill her. Three huge metal bars secure her to the wall, and the wall rotates like a lazy susan, taking Ashley with it.
Leon gets a call from his radio, but Hunnigan doesn't show. "Hunnigan, what happened? The transmission got cut off."
Cackling erupts in the silence and Salazar is shown on the screen with his ugly face. "We've jacked the line. We didn't want you telling everyone any unnecessary information." He says, a grin on his face.
"Where's Ashley?!" Leon demands with a growl.
"Aw, so she fell into one of our traps. We'll make sure we find her. Don't you worry about her."
