The ground beneath me became further away with each push. I was clinging to the metal chains so tightly that I could feel it pierce my skin; tonight was one of those nights where all of my thoughts came crashing down in my mind at once.

Although the day had been amazing, I even went out with Aaron and indulged in a mouthwatering bar one shake. The date had ended abruptly due to his strange behavior. He stated that he had forgotten about his plans with Zane but later he said that Zane was in trouble and needed him suddenly. I ignored it all, feeling bummed out since the question about parents popped up.

'She's his goddamned Kryptonite, I understand that but she's nothing like Maria! Zane, you're going too far, mate. You're on your own.'

Aaron's enraged voice flashed in my mind again, confusion once again settling in the pit of my stomach as well as the feeling that something was going on in this town. The town that was on the opposite side of the globe, far away from home, or what I use to call home.

"I hope you're in a better place now, mom." I sighed, placing my head on the metal handles of the swing as I pushed off once more. "I miss you," my voice broke along with the waterfall of tears that I kept at bay.

"You even speak to yourself, lunatic!" A deep voice said from the darkness behind me. I screamed, no longer on the swing but finding myself falling face first onto the grass.

The sound of my body connecting with the ground was blocked out by hysterical laughter.

"What the fuck? Reveal yourself, demon!" I yelled into the darkness as I slowly pushed myself up, wincing in pain.

"That was fucking priceless! You should've seen your limbs flailing like a flying cat. You really have the grace of a three legged donkey," he was still laughing his head off, barely being able to speak.

"Keegan," I growled when he stepped forward. He was shirtless with a pair of basketball shorts riding incredibly low on his hips, revealing his sharply toned V-line.

"What are you doing just standing in the dark, creep?" I asked when he fucking finally stopped with the cackling laughter.

"You laugh sounds like a goose with asthma, by the way." I added, earning a growl from him.

"Oh, so you can give but you can't receive?" My brow raised, mocking him with a challenge.

"Three legged donkey," he spat, sounding like an absolute child.

"Asthmatic goose," the four year old inside me teased back.

"Why were you speaking to yourself?" He folded his arms over his naked chest making his biceps bulge.

I licked my lips and looked into his eyes instead. "Why were you lurking in the dark?"

"I was jogging through the park but stopped in fear when I noticed a lunatic speaking to herself on the swing," I did not appreciate his sarcasm.

"Maybe you should've stayed in the dark, because my fist really feels luny right now. It might even just slam into your stupid, sharp jaw!" I yelled, feeling frustrated suddenly.

"And miss your little make out session with the ground? I think not." He laughed once more and I turned around to leave but his hand latched onto my arm. How the fuck did he move that fast?

"Why were you speaking to yourself?" His voice was low, his face now extremely close to mine. Memories of our kiss flashed through my mind and I jerked my arm away.

"Have you been crying?" He asked again.

"Why do you care?" I snapped, meeting his dark eyes.

"I don't."
