Glowing eyes

After having a wonderful time with my friends the next day, we all had to go home and go to sleep. We had spoken again about my grandad being the man with his mouth full of blood and I told them about my grandad being so happy when he spoke about his wife and how it was too absurd that he was the blood man. On the way home, I wondered what drove those people crazy and who the man with his mouth full of blood was.

On getting home, I bid goodnight to grandad and went to bed. I thought about what Zoe said, it couldn't be my grandad, could it?

In the middle of the night, I woke up. I heard some movement downstairs and then a shrill scream followed by some more shrieks and screams. I got so scared. I put the blanket over my head as if it would protect me. Then I heard someone coming up the stairs, I tightened my fingers around the blanket. Then I heard my door creak open, I slowly lifted a teeny tiny bit of my blanket to see who it was.

It  was the man with his mouth full of blood and his eyes were glowing....... It was my grandad

I screamed as loud as I could

“What happened, why are you screaming? ” my grandad asked turning on the lights

I just stared at him as if expecting him to come running towards me and trying to eat my brain.

“You.... just.....had....your......blood......glow..ing... ” I kept blabbering until my grandad came and sat right beside me, I stopped abruptly. I stared at him the whole time while he was trying to comfort me.

My head was spinning and I was super confused, my grandad had opened my bedroom door and walked in with his mouth full of blood and his eyes glowing. The next minute he was beside me, trying to comfort me as if I had a nightmare, maybe it was a nightmare. I couldn't make out anything right now so I said I was feeling better even though it was the complete opposite and he went to sleep... So he said

The next morning, I  got up from my bed and went downstairs, grandad was sitting there, no tea, no newspaper. I slowly walked towards his direction, while walking, I stepped on a chip I was eating a few days ago.

My grandad immediately looked towards the sound, and looked at me, his eyes glowing. Then his neck snapped back and he looked around, as if he was here for the first time, then his eyes fell on me. I slowly backed up a bit and all he said was

“How was your sleep? ”

I just looked at him, how could he forget what happened last night?

“It was alright, ”I replied

“Good, so what's your plan for today? ”he asked while making his tea.

“I am going to the park with my friends, ”I said

“Okay, have fun ”he said plainly

I so need to leave this place.... I needed to meet my friends too and tell them about my“nightmare”.

“Oh my God, ”Cynthia said after she heard what happened last night

“I knew it, all the rumors were true about your grandad”she added

“Forget that, are you okay? ”Sophia asked

“I'm fine I guess”I said shrugging “just a little shaken up ”I added

“You should go back to town as soon as you can, ”Zoe said

“I can't, my mom said I'm supposed to stay here for a few more days”I said

“OK, but stay away from him as much as possible, ”they all said

“Hey, it doesn't have to be true, could be a nightmare as well”I replied, finding that very hard to believe, I was trying to convince myself.

They all gave me a look which was pretty obvious to what they believed. I stayed behind not wanting to go back to that house.

It got quite late while we were chatting and I said goodbye and left. Once I got home, I went to the dining where grandad had made dinner, but he was nowhere to be seen.

God knows what he used in preparing this

I ate it anyway, what? It's food, who says no to food, not even my grandad could stop me from eating and afterwards, I went to bed. I stayed up all night, expecting my grandad to come crashing through the door, his mouth with blood and his eyes glowing. I had my phone right next to me so I could record it if he did it again and send to my mom. I kept on waiting, nothing came. My tiredness slowly gave way and I fell into a deep sleep.

When I woke up the next morning, I quickly went to his room and asked what has been on my mind ever since

“Grandad, can I go back to the city now? ”

“Why, is something wrong?" He asked

“No, I'm just feeling home sick ” I couldn't come up with any other excuses

“If that's the case, I'll talk to your mom" He said

What did he mean by ‘if that's the case’? Was he expecting me to say something else?

I went back to my room remembering to lock the door.... There's still a lot of things I wish to do with my life that I haven't done.

After a few hours, grandad called and I went to see him

“Alright, your mom said that you can drive back tomorrow morning ”he said

“Okay, thanks ”I said

I was turning to go when he asked

“Are you sure you're feeling home sick? ”

“Yes, why? ”I asked suspiciously

“Just asking ”he shrugged

“Okay bye”I said

As I walked out, I thought about why he was asking me questions like that. Maybe he knew that he walked in my bedroom with his mouth full of blood and his eyes glowing, maybe not. All I knew was I needed to get away from him fast. I had a really bad feeling about him now.
