Too familiar for my liking

It's been three months since we battled with a demonic entity, granddad sold his house in the country side, he wanted to start afresh so he was now staying with my mom and I in the city. He didn't take anything from his ex-haunted house in the country side.

If that's a word.

My mom got him new belongings and every other thing he needed so we could all be happy together and we try as much as possible to remember ‘only’ the good memories.

It wasn't easy trying to make grandad not feel guilty about anything, if he was sitting alone and you listened close enough, he was always spitting out words of self blame, even if they were most times muttered.

It was obvious he was suffering from sleepless nights too, he had dark circles and his eyes were always bloodshot. He was always looking so tired

I guess that too would have to pass.

My mom was trying to make up for lost times, all the times she didn't have to spend time with her father, she was trying hard to make up for those times.

We always tried to make sure he was never alone, always engaged in conversations with him so he'd get rid of his guilt.

My mom was also able to get him to start talking about grandma more. Even though neither of us met her, we loved listening to stories about her.

The only person lucky enough to meet that wonderful woman was Lisa.

Sometimes when grandad spoke about his wife, he'd end up remembering the spell he cast that ruined everything and his breaths would come out ragged as tears would pour out of his eyes.

He must have loved Lisa so much for him to want to bring her back from the dead. And it wasn't his fault a demon came in form of Lisa, instead of Lisa herself.

Rebecca was in college now, my mom was sponsoring her, I'd gone back to school too and I'd made friends normally like other people, without thinking of bad things happening to them. I had a boyfriend now too.

You know the starbucks guy that was always hitting on me?

Yeah, he's the guy I said "yes" to .

Bec and I tried to talk with each other as much as possible. She had a new friend too which was her roommate. I was shocked when she told me Sarah and her were friends. Bec was still a little bit rude and crazy and so antisocial but to my surprise, Sarah could handle all of that, she was helping Bec get better though.

That didn't mean they didn't fight. Those two were always fighting but Bec wasn't used to all of these, she'd always hated having friends so she never had one which was why I was shocked when she called me one night and told me she was having dinner with a friend of hers.

They fought way more than the number of times the heart beats in a minute.

I also heard that the people who used to live around granddad's old house that had gone crazy were getting better. It seemed like the craziness was connected with Lisa or blood man, I don't know.. All this was still confusing to me and I wasn't going to think about it anymore.

Everything in my life was getting back together and I've never been happier. We were all living like a normal, regular family.

I had just gotten off the phone with Peter my boyfriend when my mom called me from downstairs and I went down to see her.

“I'm going to get pizza with Michael” She said taking her car keys off the counter and I smirked.

Apparently Michael was the reason my mom left home the day Aunt Jenny and Rebecca came over, she said they had planned something and she wanted it to be as a surprise to me so she didn't tell me, the rest of the story was too long and she said she didn't want to talk about it so I let her be

What was the use anyways?

“Granddad is staying over at a friend's place and I don't think I'm coming home tonight” She said smiling and I wiggled my brows at her, smiling too

“It's been a while I heard the cry of a child” I said and my mom threw a look at me which made me laugh as I followed her out the door.

“You can invite friends over if you want” She said

“Alright, thanks mom” I said and watched her get into the car and I blew her a kiss

“I love you!” I shouted and she smiled

“Love you too” She mouthed and I smiled in return before getting into the house and I called my friends to come over.

An hour later, Tasha and Emily were here in their PJ's, we were eating pizza in my room, talking, laughing and having so much fun.

“My little sister lied to my mom that I said I was going to run away from home and guess what?” Emily asked “my mom came to my room to tell me goodbye” she added and we all laughed.

Emily had a really funny mom and a loving dad with a very beautiful younger sister while Tasha lived with her single dad that did as much as he could for her. We were all happy and content!

“Luna just so you know, I'm staying here till sunday, my dad's okay with it” Tasha said as she stood up to go to the bathroom

“I suggested that to my mom and she said I'm lucky she even let me come over tonight” Emily scoffed and Tasha laughed at her mockingly while I watched with a smile.

The joy and comfort best friends gives.

“Luna?” Emily called and I looked at her “do you believe in spells and those kind of things?” she asked

“Uhm--why're you asking?”

“Well, my granddad's dog died and he said he had a book that had a spell that could bring his dog back to life” She said

Well... This is too familiar for my liking

"Where'd he find the book?” I asked

“My dad got him a house in the country side, his choice, and he said he found the book there, in one of the closets in one of the bedrooms” She explained, lying on the floor and closing her eyes.

My eyes went wide as the pizza slice in my hand fell and my heart pace increased as I realized something.

We didn't get rid of the book!

           THE END!!!
